    • A heat treatment roll 2 is provided for continuously cooling or heating a treated object such as a resin sheet 5, which is used in an extrusion molded sheet manufacturing apparatus or the like. The heating roll 2 includes a hollow roll body 11 formed with many circular through holes 11a in the roll axis direction at a fixed close pitch on the same radius close to the cylindrical surface, wherein roll body 11 is formed by calculating the space between the circular holes 11a from the cylindrical surface to give the highest heat conduction efficiency with respect to the cylindrical surface and the lowest unevenness of temperature in the circumferential direction; a pair of side plates 12 and 13 which are fixedly provided on both end faces of the roll body 11 so as to be aligned with the roll body 11 and are provided with radial heating medium passages communicating with the circular through holes 11a in the cylindrical surface of the roll body 11; and a pair of rotating support shafts 12a and 13a extending on the same centerline on both sides of the heat treatment roll, each of which is fixedly provided integrally with one of the side plates, and has a heating medium passage communicating with the radial heating medium passages of the side plate in the axis center. Thereby, a cooling medium or a heating medium can be caused to flow from the heating medium passage in one rotating support shaft to the circular through holes in the roll body, and discharged from the heating medium passage in the other rotating support shaft, whereby a treated object such as the resin sheet 5 is cooled or heated.

    • A method and apparatus for attaching an ornamental overlay to a vehicle wheel by injecting adhesive foam through an aperture of the wheel and into a cavity formed between the wheel and the overlay. A first nest engages the outboard side of the wheel/overlay assembly to seal the inner periphery of the overlay, the valve stem opening of the overlay, the lug bolt receiving holes of the wheel, the pilot aperture of the wheel, and/or the valve stem opening of the wheel. A secondary nest engages the inboard side of the wheel/overlay assembly to seal the wheel apertures and a plurality of turbine openings in the overlay. A nozzle disposed within the secondary nest is adapted to inject the adhesive foam into the cavity through either a gap between the periphery of a wheel aperture and the periphery of a corresponding turbine opening in the overlay, through a straight or angled hole within a spoke, or through a groove within a spoke.

    • A method and apparatus for manufacturing a flexible curtain is disclosed and claimed. The flexible curtain is used in a windlocking apparatus to prevent the unwanted intrusion of wind, water and debris into a building opening. Strips are attached to the edges of the curtain. The strips may be attached to the curtain by first heating them followed by compressing them to form a welded or bonded construction. The heating may be accomplished by direct heat transfer, electromagnetic excitation, or ultrasonic excitation. Compressing the materials together is accomplished with rollers having cylindrical laminating surfaces to join the excited materials and form a welded or bonded construction. Alternatively, the materials may be glued or stitched together. Preferably the curtain and strips are thermoplastic materials. Semi-crystalline polymer strips may be joined to a thermoplastic curtain to add rigidity.
