    • An apparatus and method are provided for molding clusters of fibers, including at least some thermoplastic fibers, into products at a cost, quality, and performance level acceptable for commercial production. The clusters are dedensified 10 and then placed 12 into an empty mold 20. The mold 20 has apertures 28 to facilitate the transfer of thermal energy through the mold 20. A linear conveyor 32 is used to transport the mold through a plurality of process locations on a continuous or semi-continuous basis. Included is a heating location 48 wherein the mold 20 is heated 14, providing an influx of thermal energy sufficient to fuse the thermoplastic fibers to form a heated product. A cooling location 50 follows the heating location 48, wherein the mold 20 and the heated product contained therein are cooled 16 to produce a cooled product. The cooled product is then ejected 18 from the mold 520.

    • The present invention relates to a process for the production of three-dimensional articles by stereolithography using a radiation-curable composition comprising a mixture of at least one cationically polymerizable compound and/or at least one free radical polymerizable compound, at least one filler material and at least one photoinitiator for cationic and/or radical polymerization. An organic viscosity stabilizer material may be brought into contact with the composition to substantially delay or prevent undesirable viscosity increase and subsequently premature polymerization. A filler material is optionally added to the composition in an effective amount to at least delay or prevent a significant increase in viscosity and polymerization. The process is particularly suitable for stabilizing resins in stereolithography baths. The present invention also relates to a cured articles resulting from said process and a process for manufacturing said radiation-curable compositions and stabilized compositions resulting therefrom.

    • A method for relieving pressure in a vulcanized tire while still in a tire press is disclosed, wherein the bladder securement mechanism utilizes a position sensor mechanism and eliminates the need for spacers and a floating piston. A tire press comprises a lower mold, an upper mold, and a bladder securement mechanism. The bladder securement mechanism has an upper clamping mechanism for securing the upper periphery of a bladder and a lower clamping mechanism for securing the lower periphery of the bladder. A center mechanism tube has a center mechanism rod positioned therein. A piston is disposed within the center mechanism tube. The piston provides reciprocating motion to the center mechanism rod. A position sensor mechanism operatively associated with the bladder securement mechanism. The method comprises the steps of positioning a green tire on the bottom mold; lowering the upper clamping mechanism; inflating the bladder, thereby forming a seal between the bladder and the tire; closing the press so that the green tire is enclosed within the upper and lower molds; curing the green tire; breaking the seal by moving the upper clamping mechanism downward toward the lower clamping mechanism; releasing pressure from the tire; and, dissipating the released pressure. Depending on the configuration of the tire press, the lower clamping mechanism may be moved to strip the bladder from the tire.
