摘要： A manipulative device capable of remote operation has a nozzle head (1) having one or more nozzles adapted to eject a fluid stream having a component at right angles to the axis of the nozzle head. There is a flexible elongate hose (2) for connecting the nozzle head to a source of remote operation, such as a joystick arrangement (9). Also valves (6) capable of operation by tendons (3) parallel to the flexible elongate hose enables spatial positioning of the nozzle head by remote differential operation of the tendons. The device may be used in various applications for example borehole mining, paint spraying etc.

摘要： An actuator for a joint comprises a bladder-shaped chamber (5) whose one end is secured to an arm (2) by a mounting (6), whilst a bundle of fibres (7) extend from the other end of the chamber member (5) to a junction (8) on another arm (3). The rear wall (9) of the chamber member (5) is formed from woven bi-directional fibres (10) whilst the outer wall is defined by an array of high tensile fibres (11), at least some of which extend from the fibre bundle (7). The fibres (7, 10 and 11) are embedded in elastic material. When a pneumatic or hydraulic fluid is pumped through an inlet (12) to the chamber member (5), the latter expands and the fibres (11) bow outwardly, thus pulling on the fibers (7) and raising the arm (3), with the respect to the arm (2), to lift a weight (13).

摘要： The present invention relates to a workpiece placement system (9) for picking and placing a workpiece (10) on a product (22) being assembled. The workpiece placement system (9) includes a mechanical housing (38) having a telescopic arm (14) that is extendable between a retracted position and an extended position. A vacuum source (24) providing a vacuum pressure below ambient conditions is in fluid communication with a vacuum conduit along the telescopic arm (18). The workpiece (10) is securely held in place on the telescopic arm (18) as it is extended from the initial retracted position to the extended position. After the telescopic arm (18) is fully extended the workpiece (10) is positioned proximate the product (22) being assembled, and the vacuum is interrupted to release the workpiece.
