The guide may be made from plastics material with metal collets to line the lug openings which receive the file. An opening is made through the guide to view the cutting edge when being filed. Reference marks on the top of the guide which are aligned in the direction of the saw chain assist in the alignment of the file along the inclined cutting edge.
