Moreover the secondary member (17) comprises of stopping means, which are similarly allocated to the locating member in the vicinity of its seat-engaging surface (170) and which, when a secondary member is mounted on the seat-engaging surface of the carrier, are held in contact with the stopping face with prestress.

    • The invention provides a tool support for machine tools comprising a base unit, a holding member arranged on the base unit and two supporting surfaces extending at an acute angle to one another arranged on the holding member for supporting a tool holder in first and second supporting areas. A clamping device acts on a clamping member of the tool holder such that the tool holder acts upon the supporting surfaces with the two supporting areas. The clamping element may be mounted in the holding member for rotation about an axis and bear a wedge surface movable around the axis for acting on the clamping member. The wedge surface of the clamping element may engage over the clamping member proceeding from an insert position during the rotation of the clamping element in a first direction of rotation and displace the clamping member increasingly in the clamping direction.

    • A parting/grooving insert formed of cemented carbide includes upper and lower surfaces of V-shaped cross-section adapted to mate with corresponding V-shaped walls of a holder. The walls form opposite sides of a slot in which the insert is frictionally held. One of the walls is formed on an elastically movable clamping arm of the holder which is elastically displaced away from the other wall when the insert is forced into the slot. Due to the elasticity of the clamping arm, the insert is frictionally secured. The upper and lower walls include recesses spaced apart by non-recessed portions of the respective surfaces of the insert which are engaged by the walls of the slot. Due to the presence of the recesses, the pressure acting on the non-recessed portions of the insert surfaces is increased.

    • The machine tool support apparatus includes an elongate bar member that comprises a mounting portion and a collet portion. The mounting portion is releasably attachable to a machine mount of a turning machine. The collet portion includes a main aperture that extends therethrough. A collet retaining assembly selectively receives a plurality of collet assemblies which are releasably attachable to the bar member and secure machine tools to the machine mount during a machining operation. A retaining pin restricts rotational movement of each of the collet assemblies with respect to the bar member. A positioning assembly selectively positions the bar member along a longitudinal axis of the bar member with respect to the machine mount. A coolant assembly applies coolant to the machine tool during a tooling operation. A lubrication assembly permits selective lubrication of the main aperture of the collet portion and the positioning assembly.

    • A method and apparatus for adapting a turret extender to Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) lathes, equipped with a main turret which is indexable about an indexing axis is disclosed. The disclosed turret extender mounts directly to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) turret to extend the maximum turning diameter of the lathe by augmenting the original tool mounting configuration. The turret extender can accommodate, individually or in combination one or more standard tools, one or more modular tools and one or more relocated tools either standard or modular. By attaching to an OEM turret, the turret extender utilizes the original indexing electronics and hydraulics of the OEM main turret. The turret extender therefore provides enhanced machining capability in a cost efficient manner.

    • A rotatable tool includes a rotatable body defining an axis of rotation. The body forms a seat configured to receive a cutting insert.     • A turret tool rest (14) includes a turret (24) movably supported on a base (22), on which desired tools can be mounted at predetermined indexable angled positions.
