    • A gas separation centrifuge (10) is provided with a housing (12) having a rotor (30) mounted for coaxial rotation within the housing (12), including a plurality of inverted truncated pyramid plates (34). The plates (34) are stacked coaxially and are axially spaced apart to form channels (40) therebetween. Concentric input tubes (50, 52) are connectable to a source of inlet fluid and concentric outlet tubes (66, 68) are connectable to a collection device. One of the input tubes is connected to a source of liquid solvent (80) for injecting a quantity sufficient for coating the interior side walls to a thickness less than the minimum clearance distance between the exterior periphery of the rotor plates. Another of the plurality of input tubes is connected to a source of a gaseous mixture. At least one of the outlet tubes has an opening for withdrawing one gas of the mixture in a high state of purity.

    • A centrifuge (2) including a non-rotatable containment vessel (4), a rotatable centrifuge tube (12) within said vessel, an inlet assembly (7) for dirty gas, an outlet assembly for clean gas, and an outlet assembly (9) for dirty gas, said inlet assembly for the dirty gas and said outlet assembly for the dirty gas being located in close mutual proximity and at or towards one end of the centrifuge tube, the outlet for the clean gas being located at the opposite end of the centrifuge tube, the flow of gas entering the centrifuge tube being reversed within the centrifuge tube so as to increase the residence time of the dirty gas within said centrifuge tube. The centrifuge tube is supported on spaced foil bearings (23) located at predetermined spacings relative to each other and to the ends and centre of the centrifuge tube.
