    • An implantable cardiac stimulation system senses electrical activity of all four chambers of the heart and delivers pacing and defibrillation pulses to all four chambers of the heart. The system includes a lead system consisting of first and second leads. The first lead includes a right ventricular pacing electrode, a right ventricular defibrillation electrode, and a right atrial defibrillation lead. The second lead is implantable in the coronary sinus of the heart and includes a left ventricular pacing electrode, a left ventricular defibrillation electrode, a left atrial pacing electrode, and a left atrial defibrillation electrode. A right atrial pacing electrode is carried by one of the first and second leads. The system further includes a cardiac stimulation device including a pulse generator that delivers defibrillation pulses between any combination of the defibrillation electrodes and pacing pulses to any one of the pacing electrodes and a sensing circuit that senses cardiac electrical activity with any one of the pacing electrodes.

    • A cardiac stimulation device, a His Bundle lead, and an associated method for detecting a conduction signal from the His Bundle. Upon this detection, the stimulation device delivers ventricular stimulation to the right and/or left ventricles at an interval following the atrial depolarization. A sensing window is initiated following the sensing of the atrial depolarization. During the sensing windows, the His Bundle signal received through the His Bundle lead is sampled and a moving average is calculated to determine a signal peak. Detection of the His Bundle signal peak triggers ventricular stimulation, which may be delivered to the right ventricle, the left ventricle, or both ventricles.

    • An implantable multi-chamber cardiac stimulation device includes flexibly programmable electrode stimulation configurations, and is capable of precisely controlling the stimulation sequence between multiple sites. The stimulation device provides a plurality of connection ports that allow independent connection of each electrical lead associated with a particular stimulation site in the heart. Each connection port further provides a unique terminal for making electrical contact with only one electrode such that no two electrodes are required to be electrically coupled. Furthermore, each electrode, whether residing on a unipolar, bipolar or multipolar lead, may be selectively connected or disconnected through programmable switching circuitry that determines the electrode configurations to be used for sensing and for stimulating at each stimulation site. The stimulation device possesses unique sensing and output configurations associated with each stimulation site, such that depolarizations occurring at each stimulation site can be detected independently of events occurring at other sites within the heart, and such that each site can be stimulated independently of other sites or on a precisely timed basis triggered by events occurring at other sites. The stimulation device is further capable of uniquely programming coupling intervals for precisely controlling the activation sequence of stimulated sites. Coupling intervals are selected so as to provide optimal hemodynamic benefit to the patient.

    • A thermal treatment system including a heat applying element for generating thermal doses for ablating a target mass in a patient, a controller for controlling thermal dose properties of the heat applying element, an imager for providing preliminary images of the target mass and thermal images during the treatment, and a planner for automatically constructing a treatment plan, comprising a series of treatment sites that are each represented by a set of thermal dose properties. The planner automatically constructs the treatment plan based on input information including one or more of a volume of the target mass, a distance from a skin surface of the patient to the target mass, a set of default thermal dose prediction properties, a set of user specified thermal dose prediction properties, physical properties of the heat applying elements, and images provided by the imager. The default thermal dose prediction properties are preferably based on a type of clinical application and include at least one of thermal dose threshold, thermal dose prediction algorithm, maximum allowed energy for each thermal dose, thermal dose duration for each treatment site, cooling time between thermal doses, and electrical properties for the heat applying element. The user specified thermal dose prediction properties preferably include at least one or more of overrides for any default thermal dose prediction properties, treatment site grid density; and thermal dose prediction properties not specified as default thermal dose prediction properties from the group comprised of thermal dose threshold, thermal dose prediction algorithm, maximum allowed energy for each thermal dose, thermal dose duration for each treatment site cooling time between thermal doses, and electrical properties for the heat applying element.
