    • A stretcher adapted for easy loading into a vehicle, comprises an undercarriage (10) with four wheels (12) depending from the undercarriage (10), a stretcher top (20), and a collapsible brace assembly (30) between the stretcher top (20) and the undercarriage (10). A front buffer (50) carries a pair of loading wheels (52) with the axis of the loading wheels (52) being at a level lower than the lowermost member of the stretcher top (20). The buffer (50) is pivotally connected to the stretcher top (20). When the stretcher is in its elevated position, the loading wheels (52) on the front buffer (50) can come in contact with the floor of the vehicle to take the weight of the stretcher prior to its being collapsed to finish the loading operation. When the stretcher is in its elevated transport position, the buffer (50) may be pivoted downwardly thereby decreasing the length of the stretcher.

    • A patient trauma table (38) is described which is used with medical imaging systems so that the patient can be positioned in the imaging system without transferring the patient to a special table. The patient trauma table (38) has an elongated top patient supporting panel (48) capable of being cantilevered relative to the table base (40) so that a portion of the panel (48) is placed in an imaging position relative to the medical imaging equipment. A system (60) for stabilizing the patient supporting panel (48) includes means (54) for releasably locking the table to the imaging equipment to fix the imaging position; and a stabilizing assembly (62) including a support arm (72) having a roller (96) at one end mounted on the medical imaging equipment so that the roller (96) can be vertically moved into and out of contact with the underside of the cantileverd table panel end.
