摘要： An umbrella tent of the type which has no hindering central post in the open position and which is characterized by having a removable central post extension which is used to produce opening of the tent and which also allows a simple construction of the framework components without the need for an actuation mechanism in addition to the basic framework components as heretofore done. This umbrella tent includes a central post, ribs pivoted to the upper end of the central post and spaced around the latter, an elongated post extension removably securable endwise to the lower end of the central post, a slidable underlying ring engaged around the central post and slidable along the latter and the post extension, a hook member to releasably hook this ring and hold the latter in fixed position along the central post, rods pivoted at their opposite ends to this ring and to an intermediate portion respectively of the ribs, and a spreader ring overlying the other ring and slidable along the central post and the post extension, whereby the spreader ring holds the ribs and rods in position of readiness for opening of the tent when the latter is closed and the post extension is upwardly cleared by the slidable underlying ring and is preferably removed when the tent is open.

摘要： The specification discloses a camouflage disrupter frame for supporting camouflage netting in order to camouflage an object. The disrupter frame includes a plurality of elongated links pivotally interconnected at the ends thereof to form a parallelogram configuration when the frame is expanded from a normally closed position to an open position. An elongated flexible bow member is connected across the frame and has a linear configuration when the frame is closed. The flexible bow member is flexed and bent outwardly from the parallelogram configuration when the frame is expanded to the open position. When the bow member is flexed, the bow member tends to return the frame to the closed position. A strap is adapted to be connected across a corner of the frame to prevent the return of the frame to the closed position. A camouflage netting may be attached to and supported by the disrupter frame to provide anirregular three dimensional camouflage shape. When not in use, the strap may be disconnected and the frame is then moved to the closed position due to the unflexing of the bow member for ease of storage.

摘要： An umbrella tent construction includes a plurality of elongated resilient ribs each pivoted at one end to the flange portion of a top base member which includes a vertical post portion projecting downward from the flange. A brace is pivoted at one end to each rib intermediate the ends of the latter, and the opposite end of the braces are pivoted to a hub disposed vertically below the base member. The hub is movable vertically toward and away from the base member across a plane extending through the axes of the pivot connections of the braces to the ribs, to effect opening and closing of the ribs. Abutment means operatively interengages the base member and hub in a predetermined position of the latter above said plane, to limit the upward movement of the hub toward the base member and thus establish the open condition of the ribs. A flexible tent cover is secured to the ribs and is stretched tight as the ribs move toward said open position. The stretched cover resiliently resists vertical movement of the hub upward across said plane, whereby the hub snaps upwardly across said plane to said open position of the ribs in which the abutment means ingerengages the base and hub. The stretched cover thus locks the hub in said upward position and thereby secures the ribs in said open condition. By pulling the hub downward across said plane, against the resistance of the stretched cover, the hub and braces are unlocked, whereupon the braces and ribs are collapsed to tent-folding condition.

摘要： A collapsible shelter of the umbrella-tent type including a foldable frame and a cover of sheet material affixed to the frame. The frame comprises a plurality of support members having mutually respective ends pivotally connected to a central hub. The central hub is mounted on elongate erecting guide means located at the apex of the frame. A second hub is mounted on the guide means below the central hub, and a plurality of rib members are pivotally connected at mutually respective ends to the second hub, with the other ends of the rib members being pivotally connected to corresponding, respective support members, so that when the shelter is in its erected form, the support members extend outwardly and downwardly from the central hub, the second hub is positioned adjacent or proximate to the central hub, the rib members extend substantially radially outwardly from the erecting guide, and the cover is held tautly affixed to the frame. Means are provided for releasably connecting and holding the second hub and the central hub together as a rigid unit to avoid untimely collapse of the shelter by inadvertent, undesired, downward movement of the second hub away from the central hub. The shelter can be collapsed, when desired, by disengaging the second hub from the central hub and moving the second hub downwardly away from the first hub. When the shelter is collapsed, the support members extend downwardly as a bundle from the central hub, the ribs are folded to positions substantially within the bundle of collapsed support members, and the cover is loosely affixed to the frame. In a preferred embodiment, the support members are segmented and can be folded upon themselves to greatly shorten the length of the collapsed bundle thereof.

摘要： A tent or collapsible shelter of the umbrella tent-type. The tent includes, in one lightweight package, a foldable frame and a tent cover affixed to the frame. In one embodiment, the tent frame includes a vertical erecting rod located at the apex of the tent frame and flexible, segmented tent poles pivotably connected at the upper ends to a sleeve section which is, in turn, slidable on the erecting rod. The tent cover is attached to the tent poles near the ground, is slidably connected to an intermediate section of the tent poles and is connected at the top to the sleeve section at the base of the erecting rod. In this manner, the tent cover is tautly affixed to the tent frame in an erected position and is loosely affixed to the tent frame in a collapsed position. The sections of the segmented tent pole are connected to one another in the collapsed state and are elastically urged into an intercoupling engagement to form a rigid support upon erection.
