    • An underground electrical utilities vault and distribution enclosure system comprises a grade level box, for storing underground cables, and a two-part lid comprising a pair of side-by-side cover plates that close the top of the box. One of the split cover plates has an access opening that interlocks with an above-ground pedestal housing. Connections to underground cables contained in the grade level box are made on a frame structure disposed in the pedestal housing. The split cover may contain a removable plug that normally rests at ground level before service is provided to the premises. The pedestal housing can include a separate collar that supports a pre-assembled contact mounting frame and snap locks into a fixed position over the access opening. Separately, the pedestal housing can include a plug base and an integrally molded collar that supports a contact mounting frame. When connections are provided to the premises, the plug is removed and the pedestal housing, having a base of the same configuration as the access opening, is snap-locked in the opening left by removing the plug. The interior of the pedestal housing contains connecting brackets such as mounting bars and/or a universal mounting plate for making the above-ground connections.

    • A firmly-constructed door handle device unlockable from indoor side of refrigerators, which enables a person trapped in a refrigerator by accident to escape therefrom speedily by a simple operation. This handle device includes a handle unit fastened to a door, and a latch receiver unit fastened to a wall of a refrigerator. The handle unit consists of a fixed seat attached to the door, a movable body connected to the fixed seat by a pivot, a latch member, and an operating handle for driving the latch member. The door handle device also has a setting bolt, an operating portion is positioned in the inside of the refrigerator. The setting bolt is inserted into a threaded bore provided in a rear portion of the movable body to fix the movable body to the door. The trapped person has only to turn the operating portion of the setting bolt to take out the bolt from the threaded bore.

    • A firm closure and locking device to firmly close and lock a vent window pivotally mounted and adjacent to a rigid member. The device has a body portion configured in a U-shape which fits over the edge of the vent window adjacent to the rigid member. A locking arm is pivotally mounted to the body onto a pivot element, preferably a screw-like member projecting from the body. A pressure-bearing device, such as a handle with an internal threaded receptacle portion is threadedly engaged onto the screw-like member. The handle is rotated upon the screw-like member to advance it inwards towards the body, thereby applying pressure against the locking arm intermediate the handle and the body of the locking device. When the U-shaped portion of the body is fitted over the edge of the vent window adjacent the rigid member and no pressure is applied against the locking arm, the locking arm is free to rotate about the screw-like member until it abuts against the side of the adjacent rigid member. Pressure applied against the locking arm by the rotating handle locks the locking arm against further pivotal rotation and furthermore draws the vent window into a tightly closed position preventing air seepage and wind noise.
