These units are aligned transverse the vehicle and face rearwardly with respect to the direction of travel. An inertial transducer such as that defined above is mounted in the hollow body (52) and its output electrodes are each connected to at least one of the light units.

    • The invention relates to emergency-deceleration condition transducers, including an insulating case made by insulating material, which defines a sealed arc hollow groove. Said arc hollow groove was filled with some mercury. Said mercury in the arc groove would move to front and behind along the arc surface when the travelling speed changes during the motor vehicle travelling, so that the electrodes spaced be turned on/turned off to produce corresponding condition signal. The invention relates still to emergency brake lamps using the emergency-deceleration condition transducers, the turn on/turn off of the lamps would be carrying out automatically without effect by driver mistaking operating, so the accident of vehicle striking from behind be effectively avoided.

    • A resettable impact switch is disclosed having a housing (12), a first terminal (22) and a second terminal (26) secured to the housing, and a moveable conductor (44) maintained in contact at one end with a reservoir of mercury and at the opposite end with the second terminal (26). The reservoir of mercury is, in turn, in contact with said first terminal (22), allowing the conduction of current through the switch when the moveable conductor (44) is connected to said second terminal (26) and said reservoir of mercury, as during normal operation thereof. Upon a predetermined level of impact imparted to said switch or upon inversion thereof, the connection between the conductor (44) and mercury is broken, thereby opening the switch. The switch is maintained open until a resetting operation is performed. The connection between the opposite end of the conductor can also be broken to de-activate the switch.
