    • A dynamic pattern display and optical data processing system is provided including magnetic bubble devices which may be operated in real-time to produce two and three dimensional patterns such as holograms, kinoform lenses and complex filters. Th display pattern is obtained by directing a linearly polarized light beam through a combination including a one-quarter waveplate, a plurality of two-dimensional magnetic bubble arrays and another one-quarter wave plate, all combined in a stack arrangement. In one embodiment a combination is provided which functions as a phase filter and in another embodiment including more bubble arrays, the combination functions as a phase and intensity filter. The display patterns are multi-phase or multi-tone (gray scale) and multi-phase in character. Each magnetic bubble array in the phase and phase and intensity filter embodiments constitutes a layer which differs in thickness from the other magnetic bubble layers. Each magnetic bubble array is also electronically driven by its own bubble propagating circuit which produces, in most embodiments, a different "local phase" or "local transmissivity" which is a function of whether a bubble or an empty space is propagated to the location. The number of levels of transmitted phase or intensity and phase is an exponential function of the number of magnetic bubble layers, thus n layers provides 2.sup.n steps of transmitted phase or intensity and phase modification and a four layer structure provides a sixteen level phase or phase and intensity display. The electronic portion of the structure may be driven by signals representing mathematical expressions, patterns, manual inputs and the like to generate holograms, kineform lenses, complex filters, three-dimensional television pictures, and other display and optical information processing applications.

    • An electronic device is presented, the device comprises: a spin accumulating structure; a spin selective filter electrically connected at a first end thereof to a first surface of said spin accumulating layer structure; a charge carrier source attached to said spin selective filter at a second end of the spin selective filter; wherein the spin selective filter is configured to allow passage of the charge carriers having a predetermined spin orientation from the charge carrier source to the spin accumulating structure, thereby causing a variation of spin distribution of the charge carriers within the spin accumulating structure. The device comprises further at least first and second pairs of electrical contacts which are connected to the spin accumulating structure and define first and second electrical paths through said spin accumulating structure, said first and second electrical paths intersecting within said spin accumulating structure. The device including a circuit configured to apply an electrical current between the first pair of electrical contacts and to detect the variation of spin-distribution of charge carriers within the spin accumulating structure by determining electrical voltage between the second pair of electrical contacts in response to the applied electrical current.

    • The technical field of this invention lies in recording and reproduction of a three-dimensional image. Its technical issue is to record and reproduce a three-dimensional image with natural light without using any coherent light source. To resolve this issue the present invention uses an optically heterogeneous material containing very small particles, bubbles, and the like. Incident light from an object forms complicated interference patterns inside this photosensitive material due to this structure and a spatial wave surface of the incident light is recorded. When white light is radiated to this photosensitive material, only luminous fluxes in an opposite direction to the incident light strengthen each other and the wave surface of the incident light is reproduced reversely. This invention is suitable for recording a three-dimensional image and for a computer memory.
