    • A recording system that is automatically triggered in response to the detection of a triggering event to record a desired signal. In order to determine whether the triggering event is present in the input signal, the recording system of the present invention detects whether a recognized pattern in the input signal corresponds to a reference pattern maintained in memory. Alternatively, the triggering event may be detected by performing a predetermined logic operation on those recognized patterns that match at least one of the reference patterns. The present invention also employs a buffer for delaying the input signal by a predetermined duration. Once the triggering event is detected, a recording device is activated to record the delayed signal for at least the predetermined duration.

    • PURPOSE:To detect positioning well only with rotary heads in a recording and reproducing device of a PCM signal by making the frequency of a positioning pilot signal in a recording position, which should be positioned at a reproducing time, different from that in other parts at a recording time. CONSTITUTION:The device is set to the quick traversing or rewinding reproducing mode simultaneously with turning-on of a positioning switch. At this time, a pilot signal P1 or P2 taken out from a tape is supplied to a low pass filter 41 and is extracted and is supplied to a detecting circuit 42, and the change from the signal P1 to the signal P2 having a frequency f2 is detected.     • PURPOSE:To perform efficient running control when driving state of a magnetic tape are changed, by detecting a stop position of the magnetic tape from comparison outputs obtained by comparing the amplitude of four pilot signals in a reproduced signal. CONSTITUTION:The reproduced signal of a magnetic head is supplied to the input terminal of a balanced modulator 6, and a signal f1 or f2 for generating a beat signal of frequency f1-f2 f3-f4=fa or f1-f4 f2-f3=fb with a pilot sig nal in the reproduced signal is inputted thereto as well in response to the switching controller of a switch circuit 12. The output signal of the modulator 6 is separated into signals fa and fb through BPFs 7a and 7b. The signals fa and fb are supplied to detectors 8a and 8b to generate signals with corresponding amplitudes, whose levels are compared with each other by a comparator 9. An output signal O1 based upon the comparison result appears at an output terminal 14. This signal O1 indicates the stop position of the magnetic tape according to whether the pilot signal inputted to the modulator 6 is f1 or f2.
