    • A reverberation generation processor. The reverberation generation processor generates a specific auditory signal according to a predetermined virtual environment having characteristics of spatial dimension, sound reflection, and decline. The natural sequence generator generates a natural sequence having a predetermined number of items according to the characteristics of the virtual environment. The sequence adjusting device adjusts gains of the items and a time scale between the items of the natural sequence and outputs an audio signal. The filter processor filters a predetermined frequency band of the audio signal according to the characteristics of the virtual environment and divides the filtered audio signal into a high frequency audio signal and a low frequency audio signal. The high frequency reverberation generator transforms the high frequency audio signal to a high frequency reverberation signal. The low frequency reverberation generator transforms the low frequency audio signal to a low frequency reverberation signal. The output device combines the high frequency reverberation signal and the low frequency reverberation signal to output the specific auditory signal.

    • Room acoustics simulation is achieved by digitally defining delay and weighting parameters and generating sampled analog signal responses. In the early portion of a response term an accurate impulse response is provided and subsequently high echo density is simulated using sampled analog signal Schroeder sections. A sampled data analog signal device is used which employs charge transfer devices as programmable delay media, multiplying digital to analog converters to generate weighting of the analog signal and a general purpose microprocessor as a parameter calculator. The early impulse response characteristic is accomplished by providing a time domain finite impulse response (FIR) section in a transversal filter arrangement which directly feeds to an ultimate output and to parallel comb filter sections which in turn input to at least one all pass section of the so-called Schroeder configuration. The charge transfer devices are employed as programmable delays to propagate the analog signals. All weighting coefficient products are generated by multiplying digital-to-analog converters.

    • The invention describes an apparatus for software or hardware emulation of acoustic feedback effects. The invention comprises an analog to digital interface (200) for the input, whose output is summed (202) with a feedback of this digital signal passing through an amplifier model (204), a room acoustics model (206) and a string model (210). The summed signal (202) is converted from digital to analog (205) and can then be connected to a standard amplifier. The room acoustic model comprises a volume control (208) where the degree of feedback is controlled, while the string model contains a model (212) of which harmonics to feed back, and finally an algorithm (214) that decides which fundamental frequencies that the incoming digital signal contains.
