    • The system enables data from analogue or state sensors S1 to S16, four of which may be direct frequency sensors, located in a ZONE 0 (1) environment, to be transmitted by a master transmitter 10 via a fibre optic data link 16 to a master receiver 14. The master receiver is located in a safe environment. The master transmitter comprises a power restrictor unit 18 which has for each data channel a power supply and also a power supply for the printed circuit-board (pcb) of the master transmitter. The master transmitter is located in a ZONE 1 environment. The analogue or state data are voltages which are converted by voltage-to-frequency converters mounted on the pcb and passed to the multiplexer of the master transmitter. The multiplexer feeds the fibre optic link and a demultiplexer at the master receiver reproduces the frequencies. The master receiver re-converts the frequencies to voltage signals.

    • A system for individually adjusting a plurality of remotely controlled servo units according to the adjustment of a manual control for each unit by transmitting an FM carrier signal that is broken into a plurality of segments or pulses with each pulse having its frequency modulated according to the setting of a control. The controls are individually sequentially sampled for a voltage that is related to their setting, which voltage modulates the pulses sequentially and with the sampling being continuously repeated. An FM receiver decodes the modulated signal in each pulse and transmits it to its respective controlled unit as a voltage to which the controlled unit adjusts.

    • A telemetry base receives signals from at least one telemeter implanted in at least one animal. The base includes the following: a. a plurality of antennae to receive radiofrequency (RF) signals from the telemeter(s); b. a plurality of multiplexers connected to the antennae to increase the RF signal strength; c. at least one receiver circuit capable of processing RF signals from the antennae into electrical impulses; d. a central processing unit (CPU) to receive and process the electrical impulses into at least one parameter such as temperature; e. at least one digital address bus connected to the CPU and the multiplexer to select the antenna based on the best signal integrity of the antenna; f. a display to show the current parameters from the telemeters for analysis by the operator; and g. at least one analog-to-digital interface for receiving data from other external sensors.

    • A telemetry system for a surface maintenance machine such as a scrubber or a sweeper has a plurality of sensors which monitor machine operating conditions. The sensors are periodically scanned and repetitive outputs indicative of sensor condition are used to provide tone coded telemetry signals. The tone coded signals are modulated on a suitable carrier frequency and are sent to a receiver which is remote from the sensors. The receiver decodes the tone coded signals to provide a display of the conditions being monitored by the sensors. The tone coded outputs from the transmitter also include an identification of the particular machine which is providing information for the display at the receiver.
