摘要： An arrangement for detecting cycles of operation of a positive displacement diaphragm gas meter sets up a magnetic field which is directed through the non-magnetic housing of the meter toward an internal cyclically moving ferromagnetic element of the meter. The strength of the magnetic field is varied as the ferromagnetic element moves toward and away from the source of the magnetic field. The strength of the magnetic field is detected and an ouput signal representative thereof is processed to define cycles of operation of the meter.

摘要： A system and method for optimizing liquid-handling parameters for liquid-handling instruments based on automated use of Design of Experiments principles. An automated factor screening experiment generates a fractional factorial design, creates a set of liquid classes, directs a pipetting control program to execute a worklist of pipetting commands, and performs an effects analysis to determine the factors affecting pipetting precision. An automated response surface methodology experiment based on a central composite experimental design is used to determine the optimal level of factors affecting precision of pipetting. An automated range-finding experiment determines the useful volume range of the liquid class so developed. An automated accuracy calibration experiment generates a calibration coefficient for the liquid class. An automated liquid class verification experiment then evaluates the precision and accuracy of the liquid class.

摘要： A gas meter has measuring chambers each having a flexible diaphragm free to reciprocate and in so doing to operate valves admitting gas to the chambers. The drive from the diaphragms to the valves includes an adjustable crank assembly. Crank arms (25,26) are secured by a resilient pin (27) spring fitted to one of a number of bores (30) in a tangent member (28), rotatable on a spindle (31). A worm wheel (33) mounted on tangent member (28) drives a rack member (23) secured to the spindle. Rotation of theworm wheel rotatesthe tangent memberwith respectto the spindle and so adjusts the phase relationship between the diaphragm and the valves. The bores (30) are at different radii allowing the throw of the crank arms to be varied.

摘要： Apparatus and method for proving a test meter comprising a standard for a test gas to a meter; encoder means for determining the amount of test gas supplied from said standard; valve for regulating the flow of gas from said supply means; a sensor comprising two metallic reeds encapsulated in a housing, said reeds being maintained in a non-contacting position the magnetic field of at least two magnets, said sensor being placed in proximity to the oscillating diaphragm of a gas meter whereby said oscillating diaphragm periodically interferes with said magnetic field thereby resulting in the periodic contact of said reeds and the generation of a signal at said sensor representing the passage of a predetermined quantity of test gas; and an electronic sensing device which activates upon the contact of the metallic reeds. The mechanism includes a device for adjusting the sensitivity of the reeds.
