摘要： A riot weapon comprises a barrel; a fixed breech block; and there-between a chamber having a loading aperture through which a round of ammunition can be inserted so as to rest against the breech block, or ejected; a loading catch for retaining a round of ammunition in the chamber; a trigger; a firing pin which can be actuated to fire a round of ammunition by moving the trigger, the firing pin having a normal rest position in the breech block; means for preventing release of the loading catch except when the firing pin is in the said rest position; means for releasing the loading catch automatically following actuation of the trigger; and means for exerting a force on the round of ammunition in a direction such as to effect ejection thereof through the loading aperture; whereby following firing of a round of ammunition and consequent release of the loading catch, the spent round is retained in place against the ejecting force solely by the frictional force between the spent round andthe breech block, the frictional force resulting solely from the residual pressure of gases generated by firing, which transiently load the spent round against the breech block.
In a preferred arrangement, the means for preventing release of the loading catch comprises a delay catch capable of interlocking engagement with the loading catch and having a projection which can enter a recess in the firing pin only when the firing pin is in the said rest position; the delay catch projection at other times bearing on the firing pin in such a manner as to maintain the said interlocking engagement effective.

摘要： A mechanical device for initiating the firing of a large cannon, comprising cylindrical case with a generally cylindrical yoke slidably mounted therein with a generally cylindrical hammer in turn mounted in said yoke. A lever is held up against the aft end of the case by means of an internal spring. The device is cocked by moving the lever sidewise in any direction, or directly aft. During cocking the hammer and yoke are moved aft. Upon completion of the cocking movement, the hammer is automatically released and moves forward to strike the firing pin. Upon release of the lever, the yoke and other parts are automatically reset under the action of springs.

摘要： A barrel has a barrel body that extends a barrel length and a bore extending through the barrel body. The bore has a cartridge chamber section and a rifled section with a bore diameter. A cartridge shell fits within the cartridge chamber section and the projectile extends from the cartridge chamber section into the rifled section. The cartridge shell with the projectile has a shell length within the bore, the barrel length is less than twice the shell length. The rifled section has rifling grooves between rifling lands, and each of the rifling lands has a land width. The groove diameter is greater than the land diameter by an amount that is more than one half of the land width. The barrel body has an extractor assembly with an arm retractably extending from a cavity. The arm can rotate in the cavity when extended and does not rotate when retracted.

摘要： A riot control weapon comprises a barrel, a fixed breech block, and there-between a chamber having a loading aperture through which a cylindrical round of ammunition can be inserted and ejected, the round being insertable by firstly a translational movement to bring the forward end of the round into the chamber, and secondly a rotational movement during which the round is pivoted until the round is fully chambered in alignment with the barrel, and wherein the chamber is provided with an obturating surface which extends continuously from a point adjacent the forward end of the chamber adjacent the loading aperture, rearwardly and away from the loading aperture to complete a closed loop within a cylindrical surface internally of the chamber, whereby the said rotational movement brings the round into sealing contact with the obturating surface around a complete loop.In a preferred embodiment there is provided a stop adjacent the forward end of the chamber, the round coming into contact with the stop at the end of the said translational movement, and the stop acting as a pivotal point for the said rotational movement.
