    • A water heating device comprising (a) combustion means (20) for igniting a combustible mixture of air and gas for heating water; (b) heat exchanger means (10) including a combustion chamber (14), and a plurality of exchange tubes (16) connected to the bottom of the combustion chamber (14), the tubes (16) extending below the combustion chamber (14) and through the water chamber (12), such that the hot gases flow through the combustion chamber (14) and then through the tubes (16) in physical isolation from and in heat exchange relation with the water, and the water flows about the tubes (16) and then around the outside of the combustion chamber (14) in the counter flow to the hot gases; and (c) temperature control means (30) for controlling the temperature of the water, including thermal measuring means having a sensor for sensing the temperature of outgoing portions of the water, and controlling means responsive to the sensed temperature for controlling the rate of heat transfer between the fluids by modulating the flow of air and gas to the combustion means.

    • The invention concerns a method for automatized combustion of solid fuel in a combustion apparatus which comprises a burner (1) with a device (1), which is rotatable about the centre axis of the burner for stirring the fuel in the burner which is connected to a boiler (400) and has a feeding-in opening (63, 62) for fuel in the rear end of the burner outside of the boiler and an outlet opening (3) for completely or partly combusted flue gases in the front end of the burner which opens in a combustion chamber (41) inside the boiler which comprises a convection unit (402), from which a hot water conduit (403) extends, said combustion apparatus also including a fan (27) provided to be driven by a second motor (22), here called fan motor, for blowing combustion air into the burner, and a fuel charge feeder (200, 212) for fuel provided to be driven by a third motor (211), here called fuel charge feeding motor. The method is characterised in that the temperature of the water in the hot water conduit is measured, that the measured value is transmitted into a control unit (300), and that the rate of a first motor (34), here called stirring motor, which is provided to rotate said rotatable device for stirring the fuel in the burner, the rate of the fan motor, and the rate of the fuel charge feeding motor are regulated by command from the control unit in dependency of the measured value of the temperature of the water in the hot water conduit which is transmitted to the control unit and in dependency of the heating effect that the burner shall generate according to a control program which is stored in a computer in the control unit, in order that a certain desired temperature of the water in the hot water conduit shall be achieved and be maintained. The invention also concerns a combustion apparatus for automatized combustion of solid fuel.

    • A water heater having of a tank defining a storage space for water. A heat source in a combustion chamber is operable to heat water in the storage space and has a first state and a heating state. A flue is part of a gas flow passage through which combustion gases are communicated towards a first location. A flue damper has closed and open states. A powered device in an on state induces flow of combustion gases from the combustion chamber towards the first location. A control is configured to: a) process a user input identifying a target output water temperature and generate a call for heat; and b) in response thereto i) cause the powered device to change from its first state; ii) cause the flue damper to change from its closed state towards its open state; and iii) cause the heat source to change from its first state into its heating state.

    • There is disclosed a combustion control circuit of a combustion apparatus with a driving signal generator, an exhaust fan controller and a gas valve controller, including: a combustion state detector for detecting the state of combustion occurring within a combustion chamber according to an output signal of a flame sensor installed in the combustion chamber, and for producing a signal corresponding to the state of combustion; a reference signal generator for producing a reference signal in response to each output signal of a temperature sensor and a flow sensor; a comparator for comparing the output signal of the combustion state detector with the output signal of the reference signal generator, and for outputting a signal corresponding to a difference therebetween; and an adder for adding the output signal of the comparator to the output signal of the driving signal-generator, and for respectively applying an output to each one of the exhaust fan controller and the gas valve controller.
