    • A lift pump is designed so that the movement of the elongate lifting member (1) up and down in a wellbore causes a compression of an air mass in a tank (3, 9). The energy in this compressed air mass is used for carrying out the movement of the lifting member (1) upwards in the wellbore. The compression takes place by means of a piston (22) that is moved inside a vertical cylinder (3) under the influence of a train of rack segments (15) that are hinged to each other and are drive-actuated by a drive comprising frequency-controlled electromotors (30, 31) and pinions (35, 36) driven thereby which are in engagement with the teeth of the rack segments (15) in the rack segment train.

    • A rod-pumping system is provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a downhole pump positioned in a well and coupled to a well string, such as a sucker-rod string. The system also includes a first hydraulic actuator arranged with respect to the well string so as to enable the first hydraulic actuator to move the well string within the well. The first hydraulic actuator is connected in fluid communication with a second hydraulic actuator. A control pump is connected to both the first and second hydraulic actuators to enable the control pump to alternate between pumping control fluid to the first hydraulic actuator to cause the well string to move in a first direction within the well and pumping control fluid to the second hydraulic actuator to cause the well string to move in an opposite, second direction within the well. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

    • A pump jack system for vertically reciprocating a downhole pump in an oil and gas well. The pump jack system includes a cylinder assembly having a drive cylinder and two balance cylinders. A piston in the drive cylinder may be used to provide an upstroke of a sucker rod string of a downhole pump. The pistons in the balance cylinders may be used to provide a downstroke of the sucker rod string. Lower chambers in the balance cylinders counterbalance the lifting and lowering of the piston in the drive cylinder. The pump jack system also includes an accumulator for maintaining a relative constant fluid pressure in the lower chambers of the balance cylinders.
