摘要： Certain intervals are determined in which output signals from an exhaust gas sensing device are sensed, and then applied to a control circuit, to control the fuel supply system (carburetor, or fuel injection system) in such a direction that a predetermined ratio of fuel and air is being supplied to the engine to provide exhaust gases of predetermined composition. The intervals are determined by a logic circuit which has applied thereto engine operating parameters such as operating time of the engine after having been started, engine speed, engine power condition (idling, or supplying power), engine temperature, or the like.

摘要： A control system for an engine system which utilizes solid oxygen-ion electrolyte oxygen sensing means to generate an electrical signal responsive to the oxygen content of exhaust gases of the engine which in turn is used to control regulating means to vary the character of the exhaust gases issuing from the engine. In a preferred embodiment, the oxygen sensing means is disposed upstream from a catalytic reactor and this establishes means to control the nature of the gases entering such reactor in order to maximize the effect of said reactor. Specifically, the oxygen-ion electrolyte oxygen sensing means may comprise a first and second electrode means connected to the regulating means and spaced by a stabilized solid oxygen sensitive electrolyte, such as zirconia stabilized with calcia, with the first electrode means being in communication with the exhaust gases and the second electrode means being in communication with a reference gas such as atmospheric air.

摘要： A fuel-metering unit adapted for use in an internal combustion engine having an exhaust pipe is described which unit comprises an air-intake suction tube, a randomly adjustable throttle valve therein, an air-measuring device mounted in the suction tube upstream of the throttle valve, by-pass means connected with the suction tube and bypassing the air-measuring device and means for metering fuel in amounts substantially proportional to the amount of air flowing through the suction tube. This unit is improved by providing control valve means associated with the by-pass means and adapted for controlling the by-pass means and thereby varying the proportionality of fuel and air in dependence on characteristic engine data, and by providing an exhaust gasmeasuring probe adapted for mounting in the exhaust pipe of the engine and adapted for controlling the control valve means.
