摘要： An antifouling coating composition comprises a water-erodible binder polymer having protected acid functionality and includes an ingredient having biocidal properties for marine fouling organisms. The binder polymer is a star polymer having at least 3 limbs radiating from a central core, the acid functionality being present in the said limbs of the polymer. The protected acid functionality can for example be carboxylic acid functionality protected by a divalent metal or organometallic radical bonded to the residue of a monobasic organic acid, a monoamine or quaternary ammonium groups, triorganosilyl groups or triorganotin groups, or sulphonic acid functionality blocked by a monoamine or quaternary ammonium group.

摘要： Objects which are designed to be submerged in a marine environment are prcted from fouling for an extended period of time by the use of elastomeric based covering materials which are characterized by a constant delivery rate of the incorporated organometallic polymer toxicant from the formulation. The formulation consists essentially of, by weight, from about 44% to about 85% of elastomeric material selected from the group consisting of neoprene (polychloroprene) rubber, natural rubber, and EPD (ethylene-propylene-diene) rubber; from about 7% to about 25% of selected fillers, antioxidants, accelerators, pigments, and other processing compounds, and; from about 1% to about 48% of organometallic polymer containing pendant group tri-n-butyltin selected from the group consisting of poly (tri-n-butyltin methyacrylate-co-tri-n-propyltin methyacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate 1:1:1 mole ratio, poly (tri-n-butyltin methacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) 1:1 mole ratio, tri-n-butyltin ester of poly (methyl vinyl ether-co-maleic acid) 1:1 mole ratio and tri-n-butyltin ester of poly methacrylic acid cross-lined with divinylbenzene.

摘要： A solution containing hydrolyzed organotin siloxane polymeric material is formed by hydrolyzing an organotin R-oxy siloxane in a water miscible solvent; R being an alkyl or alkoxyalkyl group with less than six carbon atoms. A water immiscible solvent is added and the water miscible solvent and R-alcohol from hydrolysis are removed by distillation. A marine antifouling coating can be made when the water immiscible solvent evaporates from the solution. A preferred embodiment hydrolyzes tributyltin ethoxysiloxane in ethyl alcohol with xylene as the water immiscible solvent.
