摘要： A vehicle body hatchback (12) is disclosed as including a hatch (16) that is movable between open and closed positions and has a hatch opening (24) with a soft top convertible closure (26) movable between open and closed positions with respect to the hatch opening (24). The convertible closure (26) includes a frame (28) movable between raised and stored positions and also includes a soft top (30) that is moved between the closed and open positions thereof upon movement of the frame between the raised and stored positions. Frame (28) of the convertible closure (26) preferably includes a main bow (34) having opposite ends (36) pivotally mounted on the hatch and also includes an auxiliary bow (54) having opposite ends (56) pivotally mounted on the main bow. Movement of the frame bows (34,54) between the stored and raised positions moves the soft top (30) between the closed and open positions. In the closed position, the auxiliary bow (54) is movable to an overcenter position that tensions the soft top (30). In the open position, a storage member (64) mounted on the hatch (16) below its opening (24) supports the soft top (30) and a boot (66) covers the stored convertible closure.

The retractable frame is covered by a flexible cover and a rigid rear member moves longitudinally as the convertible top is moved between an extended and retracted position. The rigid rear member includes track followers that are moved in longitudinally extending tracks on the rear portion of the vehicle body. The retractable frame may be either a parallel bar expanding linkage, or telescoping slide supports.

摘要： An open top automobile body including a rigid roof panel extending between the front windshield section and a hoop member of a substantially inverted U-shape mounted at the opposite leg portions to the rear fenders for fore-and-aft swinging movements between an erected position and a retracted position. A foldable hood is provided between the hoop member and the rear body section to provide a rear windshield section. The roof panel is connected at the rear edge through a hinge mechanism with the hoop member so that the roof panel can be retracted into the rear body section together with the hoop member. A locking member prevents a relative rotation of two links of the hinge mechanism with respect to each other when the hoop member is in the erected position and the roof panel is placed between the front windshield and the hoop member.

摘要： An open-top vehicle body structure including a foldable hood and a linkage for extending and folding the hood. At each side, a reversible motor is provided for actuating the linkage. In order to synchronize the operation of the motors at the respective sides, a connecting rod or flexible shaft is provided and connects together the output shafts of the motor. The linkage includes a swingable pillar of an inverted U-shape having opposite leg portions mounted on the body section for swinging movement about a transverse extending horizontal axis. The hood is connected at a front edge portion to the swingable pillar and at a rear edge portion to a part of the body located rearwardly of the swingable pillar. A rigid roof panel is removably mounted between a swingable pillar and a front windshield. The rotation of the motors produces a swingable movement of the pillar. The linkage includes a first link having one end pivotably connected with the leg portion of the swingable pillar and a second link having one end pivotably connected with the other end of the first link. The other end of the second link is connected with an upward shaft of the motor.
