摘要： The attachment device is adapted to be mounted to the delivery end of an offset duplicating machine and includes: a frame; an impression cylinder rotatably mounted to the sidewalls of the frame; a gripper bar device which is also rotatably mounted to the sidewalls of the frame and which is disposed between the duplicating machine and the impression cylinder, the gripper bar device including a gear wheel in meshing engagement with a gear wheel of the duplicating machine and with a gear wheel on the impression cylinder, the gripper bar device further including a series of members for gripping a sheet received from the duplicating machine and for conveying it to gripping elements on the impression cylinder; and character printing means mounted to the frame, including a gear wheel in meshing engagement with the gear wheel of the impression cylinder and a character numbering device rotatably mounted to contact successive sheets conveyed on the impression cylinder so as to print consecutive characters thereon. Means are also provided to avoid the printing of a character and the changing of a character should there be a void in the successive feeding of sheets in the attachment.

摘要： An offset printing press includes a blanket cylinder defining a first cylindrical surface having a radius r.sub.1 and a recessed section. A blanket is tightly stretched around the blanket cylinder and defines a second cylindrical surface having a radius r.sub.2 greater than r.sub.1. An impression cylinder is aligned with the blanket cylinder to define a printing interface between the blanket cylinder and the impression cylinder to receive paper sheets and to transfer an inked image from the blanket to the paper sheets. Drive means defines and maintains a fixed phase angle between the blanket cylinder and the immpression cylinder and rotates both cylinders at an equal angular velocity and in complementary directions to transfer images to the paper sheets. The number imprinting apparatus interfaces with the offset printing press and includes a number head having a body and a number imprinting surface. The body of the number head is retained within the recessed section of the blanket cylinder with the number imprinting surface aligned to contact the paper sheets as the number head is rotated through the printing interface. Synchronized inking means is located at a first angular position around the blanket cylinder and is angularly spaced apart from the printing interface. The synchronized inking means includes an ink transfer device, spacing means and displacing means. The spacing means maintains a gap between the ink transfer device and the blanket as the blanket is rotated past the ink transfer means. The displacing means periodically displaces the ink transfer device toward the blanket cylinder as the recessed section of the blanket cylinder is rotated past the ink transfer means. These periodic displacements of the ink transfer means cause the ink transfer means to contact the number head and transfer ink to the number imprinting surface of the number head.

摘要： An improved sequential numbering and type-holding device for removable attachment to a printing press form includes a supporting frame, a sequential number printing unit secured to the frame at a first location, and a movable remote actuating member for the number printing unit also supported on the frame at a second location spaced from the first location. The frame has a type-holder thereon for removably holding a selected printing-type member at a third location on the device as part of a desired common printing surface with the number-printing unit. The device also includes a connecting linkage between the numberprinting unit and the actuating member. The preferred embodiment includes first and second longitudinal frame members which define a type-holding slot between them for holding a selected printingtype member as part of the common printing surface between the number-printing unit at one end of the frame and the movable remote actuating member at the other end of the frame. Other details of a preferred connecting linkage and of a preferred construction and relative arrangement of parts are shown.

摘要： The printing drum of a duplicating machine has a cavity in which an ordinal set of stamping wheels is mounted for making additional imprints on a copy sheet. A casing, which supports a set of manual setting levers, has an operative position in which the setting levers are connected with the stamping wheels, respectively, by meshing gears in the cavity so that the small stamping wheels can be set by the conveniently large setting levers. The casing with the setting levers can be retracted from the printing drum so that the gears are separated, and printing operations can be carried out by the printing drum without obstruction by the casing and setting levers.
