    • The apparatus and method control preheating temperature of equipment having a device to be preheated and a preheating device for start-up which includes a heat source and a heat source control device which has a plurality of heating patterns to control said heat source. The apparatus includes a temperature measuring device for measuring current temperature of the device to be preheated within the equipment, a computing device for calculating a predicted time that is required by the preheating device to preheat the device from the current temperature to a preset temperature, a comparison device by which the predicted time as calculated by the computing device is compared with a specified start-up time and a selecting device for selecting from the plurality of heating patterns within the heat source control device a heating pattern that makes the predicted time shorter than the start-up time. The method controls such that if the predicted time is longer than the specified start-up time, another heating pattern is selected and the predicted time is calculated again so that an appropriate heating pattern is selected by repeating the selection, the computation and the comparison until the predicted time becomes shorter than the specified start-up time.

    • The disclosure discloses a printer including a controller. The controller executes a first control, a second control and a switching control. In the first control, it is achieved that a first coordinated state wherein a pulse/dot ratio when a pulse motor rotates at a first rotation speed is set to a first ratio. In the second control, it is achieved that a second coordinated state wherein the pulse/dot ratio when the pulse motor rotates at a second rotation speed is set to a second ratio that is smaller than the first ratio. In the switching control, the pulse/dot ratio is gradually decreased from the first ratio to the second ratio when the first coordinated state is switched to the second coordinated state, and is gradually increased from the second ratio to the first ratio when the second coordinated state is switched to the first coordinated state.

    • In a method and apparatus for improving the printing with a thermotransfer print head, an energy value is calculated before the printing process according to different types to be implemented when a dot is to be printed. Energy values also are calculated for the heating elements at the ends of the row of heating elements of the high-resolution thermotransfer print head, so as to activate these heating elements even though in heating phases no dot to be printed at the border external to the barcode image. Additionally, those heating elements that do not lie in the two border regions of the heating element row are also activated for a limited time duration, the aforementioned time duration directly preceding the printing of a barcode image. A microprocessor calculates the energy values and is connected with a pixel energy memory for non-volatile buffering of the data that are transferred into a print data controller and are converted into a print pulse duration.
