摘要： Apparatus for sealing a hem in a moving web of plastic film having a structure including a folding surface having a web passing on one side of the surface and an edge of the web on the other side of the surface to produce a hem in the web prior to leaving the surface. Heat sealing apparatus is supported adjacent the structure for heat sealing the hem while the web is moving and prior to the sealed hem leaving the surface. The surface is provided with an opening in alignment with the heat sealing apparatus and the heat sealing apparatus seals the hem through the opening. The heat sealing apparatus includes a plurality of heated rollers supported on one side of the structure, the rollers being adapted to extend through the opening in the surface and backup rollers are positioned on the opposite side of the structure and in alignment with the opening for cooperation with the heated rollers to engage the opposite sides of the hem for heat sealing the hem while the web is moving and prior to the sealed hem leaving the surface.

摘要： Apparatus for producing a machine-direction intermittent heat seal in a moving web of plastic film including a block adapted to be supported on one side of the hem and having a plurality of wheels having heat conducting surfaces spaced around the periphery and mounted on the block at spaced locations in tandem for engaging the film along the path of the intermittent heat seal to be formed in the hem. The block has a corresponding plurality of surfaces each of which is adapted to be engaged by a side of one of the wheels. Gears interconnect the wheels to maintain the wheels in register with the intermittent portions of the heat seal in the hem during rotation of the wheels. A heater is provided for heating the block and its plurality of surfaces and springs are provided for maintaining the wheels in contact with the plurality of surfaces whereby movement of the hem through the heat sealing apparatus causes the plurality of wheels to rotate and maintain contact with the plurality of surfaces whereby the wheels are in turn heated by conduction from the block and produce the intermittent heat seal in the hem.

摘要： A draw tape bag apparatus passes a web of plastic material having edge notched hems in the opposite edges to receive closing tapes. A hem sealer unit seals the folded layers of the web longitudinally of the folded edge to form the hem. The sealer unit includes a drum unit rotatably mounted on a shaft. The drum unit includes first and second drum parts having coaxial peripheral surfaces. A heat concentrating and release tape is secured to each drum part. The adjacent intermediate ends of the drum parts have telescoping and mating fingers and receses. Separate adjustment screws are coupled to the machine frame adjacent each drum part. Each screw is coupled to the outer race of a ball bearing secured to the adjacent outer end wall of the drum part. The setting of the screw accurately locates the heat concentrating tape axially of the drum. Hot air nozzles are mounted externally to the drum parts in alignment with the tapes and heat the web passing over the tapes to heat seal the web layers in the hem.

摘要： A flat bottom plastic film bag includes triangular gusset portions formed by a plurality of parallel heat welds which fuse portions of opposed pleats together and cooperate with a transverse central bottom seam to form a flat bottom bag from a seamed or seamless plastic film tube. The longitudinal side and end walls of the bag are provided with heat embossed corrugations which enhance the freestanding characteristics of the bag and a transverse crease is formed along the fold line between the sidewalls of the bag and the bottom wall to enhance the bottom forming characteristics of the bag when it is snapped from a folded position to an opened position. The bag may be made by an improved process wherein a blown film tube is continuously slit sealed into a plurality of tubes which are reinflated, then collapsed to form opposed double pleat folds, followed by corrugation of the side and end walls of the tube, formation of the transverse crease defining the fold line between the bottom and sidewalls and, finally, formation of the gusset welds, the transverse bottom seal and perforation or cutoff to form the individual bags.

摘要： The present invention relates to a machine for sealing material in sheets, which have been pre-coated with beads of glue affected by heat, preferably electronically printed toner beads, the beads coming into engagement with each other after folding the sheet into such as the configuration of an envelope or the like, the sheet then being advanced into the machine for adhering the beads to each other. In accordance with the invention, the machine includes a first sealing zone (12) and a second sealing zone (13), which are arranged at 90.degree. to each other with advancing means (36,38, 34,47) for conveying the respective sheet through the sealing zones, each sealing zone having one or more pairs of rotationally driven sealing discs (14,15,18,19,23,26). Each pair of sealing discs includes a first disc (14,15,23) heated by heating means, and a second, preferably freely rotating, disc (18,19,26) engaging against the first disc with a pre-settable pressure. In this way there is heat transfer from the first sealing disc to the second sealing disc so that when a sheet folded to envelope configuration is taken through the machine with the aid of said advancing means, the toner beads situated in this advancing direction are first caused to pass through respectively between said first sealing zone and in that the envelope is then given a new advancing direction at 90.degree. to the previous one, the toner beads in the new direction being caused to pass through the second sealing zone.
