摘要： A paperboard shaped into a profile substantially the same as that of a carton blank for folding into a carbon is formed with a plurality of first slits on an edge of the paperboard at a predetermined angle relative to the edge and with a plurality of second slits on the same edge at a predetermined angle relative to the first slits in such a manner that saw-teeth are integrally formed thereon. The saw teeth are immersed in a bath of a quick drying adhesive including .alpha.-cyanoacrylate to be impregnated with the adhesive and then dried, thereby forming teeth constituting a cutter on the carton blank. The carton obtained by folding the carton blank can be used as a packaging container for accommodating a roll of wrapping wed. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises first cutting means for forming the first slits, second cutting means for forming the second slits so as to integrally form saw-teeth on the edge portion, a bath of adhesive for impregnating the teeth with the adhesive, drying means for drying the teeth, and transfer means for transferring the paperboard along a predetermined path via the first and second cutting means, the bath and the drying means.

摘要： A dispenser carton for continuous-length material, such as plastic film, is disclosed. The carton includes an integral cutting assembly or a cutting assembly on a separate board which may be fitted into operating position during carton use. A deflectable protective guard or shield for the cutting edge of the assembly is included, which normally resiliently rests in a protective posture against and overlapping the cutting edge. It is adapted to be temporarily deflected to facilitate normal cutting of the dispensed material and to be spontaneously returned to its protective posture during non-use of the carton. The guard is a relatively stiff flexible tape sandwiched between the cutting edge and its supporting board stock so that the tape may not be readily removed without destroying the function of the cutting edge.The preferred method of assembling the cutting assembly consists of supplying a cutter element having a serrated longitudinal edge and a protective guard tape, both in continuous strip form, and feeding the cutter, the guard tape and appropriate board stock longitudinally through an assembly station which stakes the components together as they are passed through the stations.

摘要： A box dispenser for dispensing rolled-materials is fabricated of single wall corrugated board having a corrugated medium comprising E-flute glued between two facings. The dispenser is provided with a cutting edge. The cutting edge is formed by die-cutting an appropriate edge of the box adjacent to the dispensing opening to form serrations. The cutting edge is reinforced and strengthened by filling the interstitial voids between the two facings and the fluting at the cutting edge with a fast setting glue which adheres to the fluting and facings to provide a rigid, reinforced cutting edge which can resist being crushed or dulled by constant dispensing of the rolled material.

The leading application roller 62 travels in a path shown by the curve illustrated in FIG. 7 to apply pressure to a beginning leading edge 38 of the tape to firmly affix the tape edge 38 to the leading surface 14 of the carton. The tape application head 32 includes a tape feed 84 for feeding adhesive tape through the tape application head for application to the container. The tape feed 84 includes a tape stop means 86 that is responsive to the movement of the rollers 62 and 68 between their extended positions and their retracted positions in which the tape stop means 86 automatically prevents further feeding of the tape through the tape application head when the rollers move from their retracted positions to their extended positions.

摘要： A machine is disclosed which is intended to apply a saw-toothed blade to containers (for example of cardboard) which hold a coil or roller of aluminum foil or plastics material film of the kind used, for example in the kitchen or household in general. The saw-toothed blade must slightly protrude from the bottom front edge of the container to enable the user to tear out the portion of foil or plastics sheet to be used from time to time. The machine comprises a station in which the saw strips are severed from a metal tape and are applied to the flattened container, the latter being conveyed to the station by a conveyor belt assembly. The machine is equipped with appropriate cam and lever controlling and synchronizing means to have all the operative steps performed in the correct sequential order: the machine is compact and easily inspectable by one operator and the feeding means are all located on the longitudinal central axis of the machine. The station at which the metal strips are severed and applied to the cardboard sheets is placed nearly midway between the points at which the metal tape and the cardboard pieces are fed, these two materials being fed into the machine from opposite directions, that is, in counterflow relationship.
