    • Selection devices are provided that comprise a sheet mechanically attached above the surface of a base such that prize or other selection references can be positioned and displayed at different selectable locations on the device. The sheet may mechanically attach above the surface of the base by interacting with the base at a plurality of locations on the base. The sheet may mechanically interact with, for example, radially-oriented, ribs projecting in wheel spoke-like locations above the surface of the base. Paper or cards placed between such ribs and also between the base and clear sheet may display information about individual selectable items that are won or otherwise selected based on a spin of the wheel.

    • Method and apparatus for educational games comprising a plurality of printed cards/boards, and a novel low-cost touch pad with interface cable to the personal computer game-port. When an eductional game is played, the player responds to computer questions/words/graphic object by pressing the corresponding answer in the printed card/board which is placed on top of the touch pad. This selection in terms of touched coordinates of the touch pad is sensed by the computer through the computer input/game port. Both computer generated sound and animation graphic pictures in terms of video games or others are used for either positive or negative feedback to the player. A variation of the same apparatus can be used for playing various computerized board games with a plurality of moving game pieces, and game boards by one or more players.

    • A game timer, a game board cartridge, and a plurality of game boards for inserting into the game board cartridge are provided. A play base has a plurality of grids and plurality of timer spots for receiving the game timer with each grid having a plurality of holding cells for receiving one of the plurality of numbered game tiles. A game board cartridge carrier for removeably holding the game board cartridge with the game board cartridge receives at least one of the plurality of game boards. A plurality of numbered game tiles with each of the plurality of tiles having playing tile indicia corresponding to an integer selected within the range of 0 to 9 is provided. The game board cartridge is positioned over the play base and can be rotated in relation thereto. Each of the plurality of game boards is marked with a game board grid having a plurality of rows and columns forming a plurality of squares, with each of the plurality of squares having a game board indicia corresponding to an integer selected within the range of 0 to 9, and with none of the integers repeating within the same row, same column, or with respect to a connecting diagonal square. The plurality of tiles are drawn during game play, so that a player can make a diagonal connection to score points by matching the playing tile indicia with the game board indicia during a predetermined time period measured by the game timer.

    • A game apparatus and a method using a light source, a convex mirror and an optical sensor, all disposed within a housing, are described. The housing is transparent to the range of wavelengths from the light source and is composed of a low distortion scratch-resistant material. A game board is also used along with retro-reflective elements, such as moveable playing markers or game tokens, cards or regions affixed to and integrated into the game board. A data store stores the locations of the reflective elements and other game-related data, such as data needed to measure a player's score or position in a game or data to provide guided play. The convex mirror is disposed inside the housing such that light reflects from the light source, off the convex mirror, through the housing, and onto the game board. The one or more retro-reflective elements, when placed on the game board, receive light emanated from the light source. The light received by the one or more retro-reflective elements reflects off of the convex mirror and along substantially the same path from which the light was received. The optical sensor receives light reflected from the one or more retro-reflective elements, senses increases and decreases in the intensity of the reflected light, and signals changes in the intensity of the reflected light greater than or equal to a predefined level. A processor, or computer, is responsive to signals from the sensor and the data in the data store.
