In other aspects the interface body is provided with a skirt to protect the user from fluids; or with a front that is angled tapering towards a forward-most point whereby the media may ride up the walls of the tapering front. In a yet further aspect the interface has a reservoir for a treatment fluid, the reservoir being separable from the hand utility interface and formed as a vessel with a compressible concertina-form perimeter wall.

摘要： A buffing and polishing pad or other structure uses extremely fine microfibers of less than 1 denier. Preferred fibers are less than 0.7 denier, and in some cases considerably less. The currently most preferred embodiment is 50% fiber having 0.5 denier and 50% fiber having 0.3 denier. Preferred fibers have an average fiber length of between about 70 and about 90 mm, and most preferably about 80 mm. The fibers can be any suitable material, natural or synthetic, including especially polyester. The fibers are preferably made on a circular knitting machine.

摘要： An improved polishing pad is provided comprising a solid uniform polymer sheet having no intrinsic ability to absorb or transport slurry particles having during use a surface texture or pattern which has both large and small flow channels present simultaneously which permit the transport of slurry across the surface of the polishing pad, where said channels are not part of the material structure but are mechanically produced upon the pad surface. In a preferred version of the invention, the pad texture consists of a macrotexture produced prior to use and a microtexture which is produced by abrasion by a multiplicity of small abrasive points at a regular selected interval during the use of the pad.

In accordance with the present invention, a method of polishing stone and durable article for use in the method are presented in which the stone has at least one exposed surface, the method characterized by the steps of: a) bringing into frictional contact and abrasive article to the exposed surface of the stone; and b) refining the exposed surface of the stone with the abrasive article, preferably in the presence of water, wherein the abrasive article includes a plurality of abrasive particles adhered to a flexible backing by a flexible binder, wherein the binder comprises a cured resin derived from a resin comprising unsaturated addition polymerizable units. The binder and abrasive particles (and plasticizer when used) form a resilient composite having a hardness no greater than 20 HK but at least 1 HK. User of the articles and method of the invention efficiently increases the gloss of stone surfaces.
