    • A system for collecting and disposing of body fluids collected during surgery comprises a canister and a servicing unit for removing the body fluids from the canister and cleaning the canister for re-use. The canister is a vessel having sidewalls, a bottom and a lid. The lid has a first inlet port for the inflow of body fluids into the canister during surgery and a vacuum port for application of vacuum to the canister to induce the inflow of body fluids into the canister. The lid has a second inlet port for the inflow of cleaning fluid into the canister and a spray head in fluid communication with the second inlet port for spraying the cleaning fluid within the canister. The lid also has an outlet port with a suction tube extending into the canister for the outflow of body fluids and cleaning fluid from the canister. Caps are provided for closing those ports when the canister is being used to collect body fluids during surgery. The servicing unit has a first fluid conduit means to conduct fluid from the canister to a drain, and a second fluid conduit means to conduct cleaning fluid from a source of cleaning fluid to the second inlet port of the canister. There are connectors for connecting the first fluid conduit means to the outlet port of the canister and for connecting the second fluid conduit means to the second inlet port of the canister. Means are provided to control the flow of fluids through the fluid conduit means.

    • The present invention provides an apparatus to minimize lateral tipping of refuse containers by winds, animals and the like. A securement apparatus for wheel-based or conventional refuse containers is described. The invented apparatus includes an elongate stake having a hooked bracket and a tethering means which releasably captures a handle and a lid respectively of a refuse container. A tapered end and support surface penetration stop member on the elongate stake facilitate partial, vertical penetration of a support surface by the stake. When the stake is vertically penetrating the support surface, the hooked bracket may be adjusted to secure handles of various size, shape, and capacity refuse containers.

    • A puzzle is described made up of a plurality of parts which are assembleable/disassembleable. The parts are connected to one another via mating knobs and cavities which are tapered so that the parts move linearly with respect to one another. The parts in the embodiments described are only assembleable/disassembleable when they are in the right linear position with respect to one another and there is rotation. In some embodiments the parts making up the subassemblies must also be in the correct order, whereas in other embodiments the order is intentionally made variable.

    • A theft prevention device, particularly useful for discouraging theft of hood ornaments and other articles on the exteriors of automobiles, includes a bag or pouch of fabric material. The bag is sized to fit over the article to be protected, and may have a drawstring at its neck to enable it to tightly engage the article. In one embodiment an oily liquid material is soaked into the bag, such that anyone seeking to tamper with the protected article will touch the bag and make contact with the liquid material. The liquid material contains a strong skin irritant which does not injure the skin but which causes a burning sensation on the hands of the attempted thief. On the outside of the bag there may be printed a warning to discourage thieves from even attempting theft of the bag's contents. In another embodiment the bag includes a liquid reservoir which squirts a liquid at an intended thief when the bag is grabbed by the thief. The liquid in the reservoir may be a fragrance oil with a very obnoxious and lasting odor.
