    • A protective trim strip having an “M”-shaped lateral cross-section is provided with a lengthwise channel along one edge and a lengthwise flange edge extending outwardly from the strip. A plurality of the trim strips are attached, using nails or screws, in a side-by-side and overlapping fashion onto the joists of a deck to direct water run-off away from the building to which the deck is attached, thereby protecting the deck joists and area under the deck from standing water. The flange edge of each strip is placed into the channel of the neighboring strip to improve the overlap. A foam adhesive can be used to adhere the flange edges of each strip into the corresponding channel of the neighboring strip.

    • A belt conveyor in which the belt travels around a lateral curve or curves and comprises load-supporting belt sections (2) pivoted between transverse rods (1), has guide blocks (4) at the ends of the transverse rods (1) with bearing parts (20) which co-operate substantially without friction with runners (5) at the or each curve to guide the belt in its travel with reduced wear and tension. Preferably the bearing parts (20) and runners (5) are made of self-lubricating material. In one form the bearing parts are horizontally facing channels (20) in the blocks (4) engaged by tongue portions (25) of the runners (5). The blocks each have two adjacent transverse rods (1) retained to them. The transverse rods are also connected by links (3) alternately arranged against external surfaces of the blocks (4) and in grooves (18) in the blocks where they are connected to the rods.

    • A puzzle is described made up of a plurality of parts which are assembleable/disassembleable. The parts are connected to one another via mating knobs and cavities which are tapered so that the parts move linearly with respect to one another. The parts in the embodiments described are only assembleable/disassembleable when they are in the right linear position with respect to one another and there is rotation. In some embodiments the parts making up the subassemblies must also be in the correct order, whereas in other embodiments the order is intentionally made variable.

    • A deburring method is presented wherein a cylindrical brush rotationally contacts the workpiece. The brush includes a mandrel having a central axle to provide support during use. To the mandrel is attached a multiplicity of long bristles. Each bristle is flexible and has impregnated therein a plurality of abrasive particles. The population density of the bristles on the brush is such that the outwardly extending ends can readily flex both in the plane of rotation and sidewise along the lengthwise dimension of the brush. Setting the brush so that the bristle ends overlap the surface of the workpiece being deburred, each bristle makes a slapping contact therewith. This results in one to two inches of each bristle being dragged endwise across the surface of the workpiece. The endwise movement of each bristle causes the abrasive particles imbedded therein to abrade the sharp edges of the workpiece. An automatic conveyor may be used to feed workpiece stock past the rotating brush at a predetermined rate.
