    • An FFS(Fringe Field Switching) mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve an aperture ratio and a degree of inner reflection, thereby achieving superior outdoor readability as being a transmissive FFS mode LCD and reducing power consumption. To control the amount of light transmittance by applying voltage to an LC layer, a transparent common electrode(110) and a transparent pixel electrode(170) are installed within a pixel area. The transparent pixel electrode is installed on an upper part of the transparent common electrode as leaving a space for an insulating layer. The transparent pixel electrode is spaced from the transparent common electrode and includes plural slits. A rubbing direction for arraying the LC layer is at within five degrees with regard to a direction of a gate line(120). One end part of the transparent common electrode is disposed between a data line(150) and the transparent pixel electrode. Therefore, light leakage and coupling effects are reduced.

An apparatus for forming an alignment film in a liquid crystal display comprises the following steps of: depositing an alignment material on a substrate using plasma in a sputtering device; and projecting ion beam to have characteristic alignment direction in the alignment material; and performing a hydrogen treatment in the sputtering device. The alignment material is deposited using gas mixed hydrogen gas and argon gas. The hydrogen treatment is performed using remained hydrogen gas after depositing the alignment material using the plasma.
