    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet ejection device capable of ejecting ink by an ink jet frequency greater than 50,000 Hz. SOLUTION: A cantilevered beam 12 is mounted at its base 14 to a piezoelectric element 18 which oscillates the base 14. The beam is shaped so that it s moment of inertia is gradually reduced toward its fee end. The piezoelectric element is activated by an oscillating electrical signal of which the frequency is equal to or close to a natural frequency of oscillation of the beam. A tip 15 of the beam oscillates in a frequency higher than the oscillation frequency of the base by virtue of the structure of the beam and a predetermined frequency of the oscillation. The tip of the beam is provided with an aperture which is tapered in its cross-section. One opening of the aperture is in fluid communication with an ink reservoir 17 and the other opening is positioned at an appropriate distance from a recording medium. When the amplitude of the tip is above a predetermined threshold, a drop of ink is accelerated through the aperture and is ejected upon each excursion of the tip of the beam toward a printing medium.

    • A nebulizer comprising an aerosol generator (100) and a titration mechanism (20) comprising a dosing mechanism (30), a screw assembly (50), a plunger (60) and an actuator (40), wherein the dosing mechanism is rotatably mounted in the nebulizer and the plunger is mounted in the nebulizer to travel along a longitudinal axis (62) substantially perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the dosing mechanism. The actuator is mounted to the nebulizer to travel in the direction (42) of the longitudinal axis. The screw mechanism allows the rotation of the dosing mechanism to fix a variable distance of travel of the plunger based on the selected dose, without moving the plunger longitudinally. This allows the user to verify and if necessary correct the selected dose prior to any drug being released from the vial. Operation of the actuator causes longitudinal movement, through the screw mechanism, to the plunger.
