摘要： A magnetic recording transducer for use in a data storage device includes a writer pole with a ABS surface, trailing edge bevel and a trailing shield. The effective throat height of the writer main pole is reduced by the use two gap layers between the writer main pole and the trailing shield. A first gap layer is on and in contact with the writer pole trailing surface, and a second gap layer is on a section of the first gap layer on the writer pole trailing edge bevel, from a point removed from the ABS surface and absent from a part on a section of the first gap layer on the writer pole trailing edge bevel nearest the ABS. A method of fabricating the transducer is also provided.

摘要： A method and system provide a magnetic recording transducer having air-bearing surface (ABS). The magnetic recording transducer includes a pole, a side shield, a nonmagnetic gap between the side shield and the pole and at least one coil for energizing the pole. The pole has a pole tip proximate to the ABS. The side shield includes at least one nonconformal portion that extends from a throat height in a stripe height direction perpendicular to the ABS and is nonconformal with the pole. The spacing between the nonconformal portion(s) of the side shield and the pole varies based on a distance from the ABS.

摘要： A disk drive is disclosed comprising a disk comprising a plurality of tracks, and a head actuated over the disk. The head is positioned over a track while writing a first frequency pattern substantially centered on the track at a first frequency. After writing the first frequency pattern, a second frequency pattern is written substantially centered on the track at a second frequency, wherein the second frequency pattern is written over the first frequency pattern. After writing the second frequency pattern over the first frequency pattern, the head is scanned across the track while reading the disk to generate a read signal. A first frequency component is extracted from the read signal representing the first frequency.

摘要： In some embodiments of the invention a non-volatile memory cell is provided with a first electrode, a second electrode, and one or more side layers of a ferroelectric metal oxide and a ferroelectric material layer between the first and second electrodes. The ferroelectric material layer may be provided between, e.g., adjacent, two side layers of a ferroelectric metal oxide or between a single layer of a ferroelectric metal oxide and an electrode. The ferroelectric metal oxide may in some cases include a uniform layered structure such as a bismuth layer-structured ferroelectric material like Bi4Ti3O12. In some embodiments, the ferroelectric material layer is formed at least partially from PbZrxTi1-xO3. A non-volatile memory array including such memory cells is also provided.
