    • A method of correcting an eye circle on an image with at least one eye visible and the eye circle being located beneath the eye includes defining a core area of the image for correction, the core area being located substantially below a position of the eye in the image. The method also defines a processing area being larger in area than the core area and including the core area, and defines a surrounding area as a remaining area of the processing area not being located within the core area. An average brightness of the core area is compared to an average brightness of the surrounding area. Then a smoothing process is performed to blend the core area with the surrounding area to correct the eye circle when the average brightness of the core area is greater than that of the surrounding area by more than a first threshold.

    • A method is provided for cloning a facial feature template image into an original image including a face to form a new image. The method includes detecting the face and facial features in the original image, reducing the original and the template images, cloning the reduced template image into the reduced original image to form a new image, enlarging the new image, and displaying the enlarged new image. The method may use Poisson cloning where a resulting system of linear equations is solved by applying a Thomas algorithm to determine an initial solution and applying a Conjugate Gradient algorithm using the initial solution to determine a final solution to the system of linear equations.

    • A method of performing eyebrow shaping on an image containing a face with eyebrows visible on the face includes loading the image into a computing device having a processor. The processor selects a mask from a predefined list of masks, the mask having a desired eyebrow shape to be used for shaping the eyebrows shown in the image. The processor then adjusts the mask according to a shape of the face to produce an adjusted mask. Next the processor simultaneously superimposes the adjusted mask over the eyebrows and thins the eyebrows by changing an overall vertical height of the eyebrows in order to produce shaped eyebrows. The processor then outputs an enhanced image having the shaped eyebrows.

    • A method determining image orientation includes determining if an image includes an orientation tag and if the tag indicates the image is rotated +90 or −90 degrees. When the image does not include the tag or the tag does not indicates the image is rotated, the method includes determining if a face is detected in the original image and displaying the original image when a face is detected.
