    • Dental implants made at least in part of a porous tantalum material for enhancing the osseointegration of the dental implant into surrounding bone. For example, there is provided a dental implant which includes a porous tantalum portion and an outer portion having a color generally replicating the color of natural teeth. The dental implant further comprises a core portion and the porous tantalum portion at least partially surrounds the core portion. An esthetic portion is disposed at at least the outer portion and the porous tantalum portion is disposed for at least partially reinforcing the esthetic portion. After implantation of the implant, bone tissue may osseointegrate into the porous tantalum portion to anchor the implant in position within the surrounding bone. Other embodiments of implants are provided, each implant including at least a portion thereof formed of porous tantalum for improved osseointegration.

    • A preparation kit for preparing dental prosthetic devices in-house at the site of a dental procedure, without requiring an external third-party lab to prepare the final prosthetic device. The kit contains a porous block, a thermoset polymeric resin, and an initiator, where the resin and initiator are both packaged in substantially airtight and substantially opaque packaging. The resin and initiator are combined together to form a resin mixture which is then infiltrated into the pores of the porous block to form an esthetic material. A digital scan of at least a portion of a patient's jaw is used to provide the desired shape of the dental device to a cutting mechanism, which then cuts the filled or un-filled porous block based on the shape provided to it from the digital scan.
