    • Sub-block partitioning for hash-based deduplication is performed by defining a minimal size and maximum size of the sub-block. For each boundary start position of the sub-block, starting a search, after the minimal size of the sub-block, for a boundary position of a subsequent sub-block by using multiple search criteria to test hash values that are calculated during the search. If one of the multiple search criteria is satisfied by one of the hash values, declaring the position of the hash value as a boundary end position of the sub-block. If the maximum size of the sub-block is reached prior to satisfying one of the multiple search criteria, declaring a position of an alternative one of the hash values that is selected based upon another one of the multiple search criteria as the boundary end position of the sub-block.

    • The invention relates to a method and arrangement for synchronising data streams in networks and to a corresponding computer program and corresponding computer-readable storage medium which can be used, in particular, for synchronising different audio playback devices (audio adapters) within a home network. Said home network can be a conventional computer network comprising both wireline and wireless components. According to the invention, in order to synchronise the data output in networks in which at least one data stream is transmitted by a network unit to at least two output units of the network, where said stream is outputted, first common time information is made available to at least the output units and the output of the data in the data stream is synchronised at least in terms of the phase and/or frequency on the basis of the first common time information.

    • A system and method are provided for preventing lapses of communication in radio voice communications. The system may include a communications transceiver for transmitting signals through a communications antenna. A protection antenna, which may be isolated from the communications antenna, may obtain a received signal from a remote transmitter. The received signal may contain a signal of interest that may be combined with interference from the communications the communications transceiver. A protection receiver, coupled to the protection antenna, may obtain a sample of a transmit signal from the communications transceiver. Using the sample of this transmit signal, the protection receiver may remove the interference from the received signal to obtain the signal of interest. If it is determined that a communications channel is blocked, the protection receiver may store the transmit signal and later retransmit the stored transmit signal when the communication channel is unblocked.

    • An apparatus and method in which the amount of movement of a boundary in one or more dimensions on a dynamically movable structure or a series of sequential visual representations of said structure is measured. The boundary movement is measured by the degree of shiftable movement between light and dark areas. The motion may be analyzed and quantified in terms of linear motion or area change and an electrical analog of such motion is generated in format suitable for recordation by conventional reproducing or display mechanisms, as for example, a conventional chart recorder. In one embodiment, movement in one dimension, e.g. a linear dimension, is detected but not necessarily quantified. In another embodiment, the movement in the linear dimension is detected and measured so as to provide a quantification thereof. In a further embodiment the movement is measured in at least two dimensions to provide quantification of area changes. With suitable mathematical calculation, the area change with respect to an object of generally known shape can be converted for volume analysis. The apparatus comprises an electro-optical system including a plurality of photocells such as silicon photocells, and appropriate analog computation circuitry produces an electrical signal, as an analog of such dynamic motion, which when applied to a display screen, as for example a television tube, may display an ultrasonogram or a videofluoroscopic image.
