摘要： An optical angle detection apparatus includes a light source section, a sensor section disposed separately from the light source section through a space, a timing controller, and a calculation processing section. The light source section includes a plurality of LEDs and a plurality of first polarizing plates whose polarizing directions differ from each other by 45.degree. in correspondence with the LEDs. The sensor section includes a lens and a two-dimensional PSD. The timing controller sequentially and periodically turns on the plurality of LEDs. The calculation processing section calculates the angle of the light source section relative to the sensor section around an axis determined by the light source section and the inclination angles of the sensor section in two axial directions with respect to the optical axis of the light source section on the basis of an output from the two-dimensional PSD which changes in accordance with the amount of light incident from the light source section onto the sensor section and the coordinates of an incident spot.

摘要： A display apparatus, which can be mounted on the head portion of a man, includes a two-dimensional display unit for displaying an image. A projection optical system projects the image displayed on the two-dimensional display unit onto the retina of the eyeball of a user. A shutter is arranged in front of the eyeball of the user. A detector detects at least a forward inclination of motions of the head portion of the user. A control unit controls the shutter in accordance with the output from the detector to switch the shutter between a light transmission state and a light shielding state. A housing incorporates and holds the two-dimensional display unit, the projection optical system, the shutter, and the detector to be mountable on the head portion of the user.

摘要： A head-mounted see-through display which enables an outside image and an electronic image to be selectively observed by making a liquid crystal shutter transparent or opaque. To eliminate the problem that during the observation of the electronic image the outside image is undesirably seen through the peripheral region of the electronic image, display light from a two-dimensional display device (11) is first transmitted by a half-mirror (12), and the transmitted light is reflected by a concave mirror (13). Then, the reflected light is reflected by the half-mirror (12) so as to be led to the observer's eye as an enlarged image. To prevent the outside light from entering the eye through the half-mirror (12) during the observation of the electronic image, a negative or positive type TN or STN liquid crystal shutter (10) is disposed in front of the half-mirror (12). When the electronic image is to be viewed, the shutter (10) is made opaque, whereas, when the outside image is to be viewed, the shutter (10) is made transparent.

摘要： An image display apparatus including a liquid crystal display panel (LCD) constituting an image display plane composed of a plurality of pixels arranged with a pixel pitch, a LCD driver circuit which receives an input image signal S1 and displays an image on a substantially whole image display plane of the LCD as well as a part of the image on a selected region C of the image display plane by selectively shifting image display positions of the image with respect to inherent positions on said image display plane in a given direction by an integer multiple or an inverse of an integer multiple of the pixel pitch of the LCD, and a pixel shift driver circuit which effectively and selectively shifts, in synchronism with the operation of said LCD driver circuit, said image display plane in a direction opposite to said given direction in which said image display position shifting is carried out. Even if the LCD has a larger number of scanning lines or the pixel shift operation is performed by a larger number of times, the resolution can be effectively improved.
