摘要： It is an object of the present invention to provide a spacer which has an adequate Young's modulus for a spacer used in an image display panel and allows free adjustment of an electric resistance value, and an image display panel using the spacer. The spacer SPC holds a gap between a back panel PNL1 including a signal line CL, a scanning line GL, and an electronic source ELS provided for the main surface of a back substrate SUB1, and a front panel PNL2 including a fluorescent material PH, a black matrix BM, and an anode AD provided for the main surface of a front substrate SUB2. The spacer comprises phosphate glass including the same transition metal element with different valences. For electrical conduction, the included same transition metal element with different valences allows the use of hopping conduction between transition metal atoms with different valences to perform adjustment of electric resistance relatively easily. The transition metal element is at least one of vanadium (V), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), niobium (Nb), and iron (Fe).

摘要： It is an object of the present invention to provide a spacer which has an adequate Young's modulus for a spacer used in an image display panel and allows free adjustment of an electric resistance value, and an image display panel using the spacer. 摘要： A spacer according to the present invention for use in a flat panel display, which includes a cathode substrate with a cold cathode electron emitting device formed thereon, an anode substrate with a phosphor formed thereon, and a spacer disposed between the cathode and anode substrates, comprises a base made of a conductive glass, and a conductive crystallized glass layer on a surface of the base. The spacer is more excellent in antistatic characteristics than conventional spacers having a conducting layer on the surface of an insulating glass base. A flat panel display according to the present invention using the spacers permits a higher voltage to be applied, thus increasing image quality.

摘要： A spacer of the present invention for use in an image display device, which has the spacer between a cathode substrate with a cold cathode electron emitting device formed thereon and an anode substrate with a phosphor formed thereon, comprises a phosphate glass having transition metal oxides as its main components, and a higher phosphate concentration layer at the spacer surface. A thickness of the higher phosphate concentration layer is suppressed to 0.5 μm or less. More preferably, the spacer has a water resistant conductive passivation layer formed on its surface. This suppresses the thickness of the higher phosphate concentration layer to a thinner level, so that the spacer is less likely to be charged thus reducing the deflection amount of electron beam. An image display device of the present invention using above spacer can apply a higher voltage to the anode substrate, thus increasing the image quality.

摘要： The present invention has an object to provide a flat panel display which employs a high-strength glass material to realize a reduction in thickness and weight. 摘要： To provide a spacer, which is unlikely to degrade due to heating received during manufacture process of an image display device, and an image display device equipped with the spacer. An image display device includes: a cathode substrate including an electron source; an anode substrate including a fluorescent substance that emits light upon receiving electrons emitted from the electron source; and a spacer that is disposed between the cathode substrate and the anode substrate and supports the both substrates, wherein the spacer comprises the one having a film composed of a composite metal oxide on a side surface of a glass base material, the composite metal oxide being composed of a solid solution of a metal oxide having a semiconductor-like electrical conductivity and a metal oxide having an insulator-like electrical conductivity. The spacer equipped with this composite metal oxide film has less degradation, such as that a glass composition volatilizes, even if heated during the manufacture process of an image display device, and provides an excellent image.

摘要： The purpose of the present invention is to provide a spacer having a small absolute value of the temperature coefficient of resistance, the spacer being excellent in suppressing a thermal runaway, the spacer being excellent in voltage endurance so as not to cause an abnormal discharge even if a high voltage of over 10 kV is applied, the spacer being unlikely to cause deflection of an electron beam, and a flat panel display device provided with this spacer. The spacer of the flat panel display device includes, on the surface of a glass substrate, a thin film that comprises substances exhibiting metal-like electrical conductivity dispersed in an oxide matrix exhibiting semiconductor-like electrical conductivity. Alternatively, the spacer includes, on the surface of a glass substrate, a particle-dispersed oxide thin film that comprises substances exhibiting metal-like electrical conductivity dispersed in an oxide matrix, and the spacer further includes, on top of this film, an oxide thin film composed of an oxide exhibiting semiconductor-like electrical conductivity.
