    • In a laser light source apparatus using a wavelength converting device (35), the position and angle of the wavelength converting device are allowed to be varied so as to maximize the laser output. The angular adjustment of the wavelength converting device is simplified by accurately positioning the wavelength converting device. A holder (57) for retaining the wavelength converting device may be supported by a support portion (56) formed in a base (38) so as to be moveable in the depthwise direction of the poled inverted domain regions and tiltable with respect to the optical path. Preferably, the holder may be rotatable around an axial line substantially perpendicular to the optical axial line. In particular, the wavelength converting device may be fixedly attached to the holder so as to bring an exit surface (35b) of the wavelength converting device in close contact with a mounting reference surface (841) by using a bonding agent applied to a top surface (35e) and a bottom surface (35f) of the wavelength converting device adjacent to the exit surface, and a bottom surface (207) of a recess (891) formed in the holder adjacent to and in parallel with the mounting reference surface.

    • Angle adjustment of a wavelength conversion element after assembly is eliminated to achieve a reduction in production cost with a simplified structure. An element holder provided on a base that supports the wavelength conversion element is provided with a mounting reference surface that positions the wavelength conversion element in parallel with an optical axis. The wavelength conversion element has a substantially parallelepiped shape. A bottom surface, which is one of the four surfaces adjacent to an incident surface and an output surface, is in contact with the mounting reference surface, such that a depth direction of inverted polarization regions is substantially orthogonal to the optical axis and the incident surface and the output surface are tilted at a predetermined tilt angle relative to a flat surface orthogonal to the optical axis.

    • Provided is an image display apparatus that has: a case distinguished into a plurality of regions and has a projection port; an image display apparatus main body that projects an image from the projection port; and a controller that electrically connects to the image display apparatus main body and to an external electronic device, and is positioned so as to straddle on the plurality of regions. The case has: a first region that houses a first portion of the controller and is held by the electronic device at least at one portion of the region; a second region positioned away from the electronic device so as to sandwich the first region and houses the image display apparatus main body; and a third region positioned away from the projection port and away from the electronic device so as to sandwich the first region, and houses a second portion of the controller. Therefore, the image display apparatus can be made compact to be installed within an electronic device.

    • The present invention provides an image display apparatus that includes a case having an air inlet port and an exhaust port; a cooling air passage that is formed by connecting the air inlet port and the exhaust port; and an optical unit that is provided within the case. The optical unit includes a red color laser light source, a green color laser light source, and a blue color laser light source, and these laser light sources are positioned in the cooling air passage. Further, the image display apparatus has an air blower that cools the laser light sources of the respective colors by introducing air from the air inlet port and exhausting air from the exhaust port; and a lens that is provided on the light-emitting side of the laser light sources. The red color laser light source is positioned closer to an upstream side of the cooling air passage than the green color laser light source and the blue color laser light source. With this, the temperature of the red color laser light source apparatus is not increased by a long period of use, and thereby image quality deterioration is prevented.
