    • Optical interleavers and de-interleavers that can be used to combine and separate optical signals are described. These devices are based on Mach-Zehnder interferometers having one or two Gires-Toumois mirrors. The optical designs disclosed herein include several key improvements over prior arts. These improvements of interleavers enabled lower cross talk and more accurate channel center frequencies. The new designs also improve on the stability of the devices and substantially reduce the manufacturing costs. With the usage of multi-fiber collimators, a pair of interleaver and de-interleaver is fabricated using the same optical block thereby further reducing the manufacturing costs.

    • The present invention discloses a roof retracting device, the roof retracting device comprises a driving shaft, a rear frame, a trunk cover, a main axle, a first lever, a second lever extending transversely from one end of the driving shaft, and a connecting lever, wherein the driving shaft rotates around the main axle, and drives a roof to move between an extended position and a retracted position; the rear frame opens for the passage of the roof, and closes to seal a space between the roof and the trunk cover; the first lever connects to the second lever, and rotates around the main axle; and the connecting lever connects the first lever to the rear frame. The rear frame operates harmoniously with the driving shaft via the first lever, the second lever and the connecting lever.

    • The turn-on delay of a gas laser is significantly reduced by creating a region of higher electric field intensity between the plasma discharge-confining region of the laser and the laser anode. This is accomplished by creating one or more regions of higher conductivity along the surfaces of the laser tube structure. In one embodiment, a conductive strip is placed upon the surface of the capillary tube containing the plasma discharge. In other embodiments, a second electrode for concentrating the electric field in the preferred region of the tube is included.
