    • In a system and method of determining a data flow metric in a wireless communication system, sending a plurality of test packets to a plurality of wireless devices in communication with an access node, determining a first inter-arrival gap and a first physical resource block-to-transmission time interval (PRB-TTI) ratio for each wireless device during a first time period, and a first comparison of the first inter-arrival gap to the first PRB-TTI ratio for each wireless device, determining a second inter-arrival gap and a second PRB-TTI ratio for each wireless device during a second time period, and a second comparison of the second inter-arrival gap to the second PRB-TTI ratio for each wireless device, and determining whether a data flow metric of the access node meets a data flow criteria based on the first and second comparisons.

    • An infusion pump having a tubing clamping section including a movable and a stationary portion. The infusion pump includes at least one sensor for detecting a contact length of tubing within the movable and/or the stationary portion. The infusion pump includes a shuttle having a shuttle stationary and a shuttle moveable portion, and is configured to squeeze a length of the tubing between the shuttle portions. The infusion pump includes a motor connected to the shuttle moveable portion via a shaft. The motor moves the shuttle moveable portion towards and away from the shuttle stationary portion. The infusion pump includes a controller and an encoder that detects a position of the shaft. The controller converts the detected position into a travel distance of the shuttle moveable portion, and calculates a diameter and a thickness of the tubing based on the travel distance and the contact length of the tubing.

    • An infusion pump uses sensors and a computer program to detect tubing in a tube-loading section of the pump. The pump and the computer program also measures one or more of the tubing outer diameter, outer circumference, inner diameter, inner circumference, and tubing wall thickness. The infusion pump utilizes proximity sensors, such as an ultrasonic sensor, a capacitive sensor, or even an air-in-line sensor to detect proximity between two infusion pump surfaces, such as the surfaces that clamp the tubing in the pump, to determine thickness. At least one of the clamping surfaces is equipped with sensors to indicate contact length of the tubing with the surface. Using these measurements, the tubing wall thickness and inner diameter can be determined. Knowing the actual tubing inner diameter, increased volumetric accuracy is possible, up to a three or four percent improvement over present measurements.
