    • An optical module 10 according to the invention is comprised of: a substrate 11; a laser diode array 14 implemented on said substrate in an array; a driver IC 15 implemented on said substrate and electrically connected to each of surface emitting semiconductor laser elements of the laser diode array 14; an optical connector unit 12 for holding a plurality of optical fiber 16 in an array, wherein the optical connector unit 12 is fixed to the substrate 11 in a location where center of each single end of said plurality of optical fiber and center of each light injecting region are aligned with each other; and a cover 13. The optical connector unit 12 includes two guide-pin holes 12b on two opposite sides of a plurality of fiber holding hole 12a. Two alignment marks 50 are provided on a surface 11a of the substrate 11, which are visually recognizable through each of the guide-pin holes 12b, and function as alignment reference of said optical connector unit 12.

    • A connector incorporating a module, in which an incorporated electrical component may be cooled efficiently and reliably, is provided. A transmission apparatus disposed inside a main body cover of a module-incorporating connector is provided with a ceramic board at which an electrical component and such are mounted. A metal cover touches an upper face of the electrical component. A portion of the metal cover is disposed in an insertion portion of the main body cover. Heat generated by the electrical component is propagated via the metal cover to the insertion portion of a first cover member. When the module-incorporating connector is connected to a socket of a device, the insertion portion is disposed inside an exterior case, in which temperature is controlled by an air conditioner, and cooling is performed reliably and efficiently.

    • In an external cavity laser, which comprises an FBG section having the Bragg wavelength of light reflected by a grating adjusted to a given wavelength and a laser light emitting device designed to generate light, optically coupled to the FBG section to ensure input and output of the light, and including a high-reflection surface for reflecting the generated light, the light is resonated by a cavity formed between the high-reflection surface and the grating, whereby a laser beam having a given oscillation wavelength is oscillated through a connector.
