    • A lubricating system for an engine comprises an oil pan for storing a lubricating oil therein, an oil cooler for cooling the lubricating oil, and an oil pump including first and second pump rotors contained in a casing. The oil pump is provided with a suction port commonly used for both the pump rotors, a first discharge port exclusively used for the first pump rotor and a second discharge port exclusively used for the second pump rotor. The suction port is in communication with the subsurface of the oil in the oil pan, the first discharge port communicating with an inlet port of the oil cooler, and said second discharge port communicating with the to-be-lubricated portions of an engine. A second suction port is provided in the casing of said oil pump to be exclusively used for the second pump rotor, and an outlet port of said oil cooler is connected with the second suction port, so that the entire amount of the lubricating oil passed through the oil cooler is supplied to the to-be-lubricated portions under the action of the second pump rotor.

    • A bearing structure of a crankshaft in an internal combustion engine supports a crankshaft on a crankcase with rolling bearings includes a play absorbing device for absorbing the play in the radial direction generated between an outer race of the rolling bearing and a bearing hole of the crankcase. The play absorbing device includes a push plug which pushes an outer race of the ball bearing in the direction perpendicular to an axis of the crankshaft. The push plug is arranged in parallel to the crankshaft between the cylinder and the crankshaft. The outer race of the ball bearing is resiliently biased toward a side of the bearing hole of the crankcase which receives an explosion pressure. As a result, the generation of a hitting sound which is attributed to the above-mentioned “play” can be largely reduced even with respect to an internal combustion engine with a high explosion pressure.

    • An internal combustion engine includes a split crankcase with spaced-apart journal walls. Each journal wall has a bearing hole formed therein. The engine also includes rotary bearings for supporting rotary movement of a crankshaft. A backlash-absorbing mechanism is situated proximate a first one of the rotary bearings, for cushioning radial movement of an outer bearing race. Axial movement-restraining structure is also provided adjacent the outer race, for limiting axial movement thereof. The axial movement-restraining structure may include an engaging groove provided in an inner circumferential surface of the outer race, and a restraining clamp member operatively attached to a surface of the crankcase. The restraining clamp member may include a hook portion which engages with the engaging groove of the outer race. The axial movement-restraining structure allows at least one of the crankshshaft support bearings to be a roller bearing or a needle bearing, instead of a ball bearing.

    • This invention pertains to a power take-off device for taking-off power from a rotary output shaft of a transmission, through an output gear connected to a speed meter cable and an input gear meshing with the output gear, to a speedometer in a motorcycle.The improvement provided by the invention resides in a combination including: a drive sprocket mounted on a projecting portion of the transmission output shaft, which shaft projects outwardly from a tranmsission case; a sprocket cover for covering the drive sprocket; a gear case for housing the input gear and the output gear; and a connecting means provided at an end of the output shaft of the tranmission for connecting a rotating shaft of the input gear to the output shaft of the transmission.The gear case is operable to support the rotating shaft of the input gear for detachable driven engagement with the connecting means of the output shaft of the transmission.

    • A balancer driven gear of an engine, for the transfer of rotation of the crankshaft to a balancer shaft, is made up of a gear member, a bush member and elastic members and interposed therebetween. The bush member has a boss portion fixed to the balancer shaft, and a plurality of outward dowels projecting radially outward from the outer periphery of the boss portion. The gear member is disposed coaxially with the bush member. The gear member has an annular portion with gear teeth on the outer periphery thereof and a plurality of inward dowels projecting radially inward from the inner periphery of the annular portion. Elastic members are disposed between the outward dowels on the bush member 20 and the inward dowels on the gear member.
