摘要： A method of removing a film from a photoconductive element of a color copier or similar image forming apparatus. At a suitable time when an image forming mode operation for forming a toner image on the photoconductive element is not under way, an amount of cleaning agent great enough to scrape a film off the photoconductive element is transported to a region between the photoconductive element and a cleaning sleeve. Subsequently, the amount of cleaning agent to be transported to such a region is reduced. This sequence of steps is repeated a plurality of times.

摘要： A method of removing a film which undesirably forms on a photoconductive element or similar image carrier of an image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copier, printer or facsimile machine. The method is implemented by a cleaning device having a cleaning sleeve which removed toner particles remaining on the image carrier after image transfer. In a film removing mode which is executed when an image forming mode for forming a toner image on the image carrier is not under way, the cleaning sleeve is rotated at a lower speed than in an ordinary cleaning mode so as to feed a greater amount of cleaning agent to a cleaning region. The rotation speed of image carrier and that of the cleaning sleeve are controlled in such a manner as to feed a predetermined adequate amount of cleaning agent for the removal of a film to the cleaning region at all times.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus, a rotary developing device has a developing unit in which a plurality of developing chambers are arranged around an axis of rotation. The developing unit is rotated about the axis to bring one of the chambers to a developing position where an image carrier is located. In each of the chambers, part of a developer removed by a doctor blade is received by a guide and then released from the guide into the chamber. This part of the developer is agitated in the vertical direction together with the developer existing in the chamber by the rotation of the device. As a result, the developer is agitated and charged in a desirable manner.

When the revolver is rotated to bring one of its developing sections to a developing position, the end of a developing roller disposed in the developing section faces a bracket mounted on a rear wall included in the apparatus body. A retractable rod-like terminal is mounted on the bracket and constantly biased by a spring. A bias for development is applied from a bias circuit to the developing roller via the retractable terminal.

摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a revolver type developing unit rotatably mounted on an apparatus body and having a plurality of developing sections, and an intermediate image transfer body having an endless movable surface to which a toner image is transferred from an image carrier. While the intermediate image transfer body is caused to run idle, the apparatus allows a minimum of toner apt to contaminate the background of a recording medium to be transferred from the developing section located at a developing position to the image carrier. Particularly, the apparatus frees the recording medium from contamination in the form of a band extending in the widthwise direction of the medium.
