    • A program execution device is provided which, even when a currently executed application (program) abnormally terminates, can prevent the application from becoming unusable, and thereby improve user convenience. An MA management unit includes: an MA management unit main for receiving an instruction from an initialization subprogram and controlling the other constituent elements in the MA management unit; an XAIT obtainment analysis unit for analyzing an XAIT sent from the head end; an MA selection unit A for selecting a program to be activated, according to the XAIT analysis result; an MA activation unit for activating of the specified program; an MA monitoring unit for monitoring the operational state of the specified program and notifying when an abnormal termination has occurred; and an MA selection unit B for selecting an alternative program.

    • An information processor capable of easily dealing with addition or alteration of a format engine is provided. The information processor includes format engine management means and operation control means. The format engine managing means pre-defines common states which define operating states of each format engine in a representation common to all the format engines, and manages an operation of each format engine. The operation control means is provided in correspondence with each format engine, and pre-defines a correspondence between the common states and individual states which define the operating states of each format engine in a representation different for each format engine, and controls operations of the format engines such that each format engine is in an arbitrary individual state.

The program execution device includes: a secondary storage unit (510) having an area for storing a downloaded application program (application); a stored application determination unit (2602) which determines, based on a priority assigned to each of plural applications, whether or not the secondary storage unit (510) can store each application; a notification unit (2605) which notifies the user of a message regarding treatment of an application determined by the stored application determination unit (2602) to be unstorable; a storage unit (2603) which stores, in the stored application determination unit (2602), an application determined by the secondary storage unit to be storable (510); and a CPU (514) which executes the application stored in the secondary storage unit (510).
