    • A filler-containing polypropylene resin composition and a process for producing the same are disclosed. The composition comprises (a) from 27 to 87% by weight of a polypropylene resin, (b) from 3 to 15% by weight of a modified polypropylene resin containing from 0.1 to 3 mol % of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride repeating unit, (c) from 5 to 30% by weight of an ethylene copolymer composed of from 82 to 98.7 mol % of an ethylene repeating unit, from 1 to 15 mol % of an ester repeating unit selected from alkyl acrylates and alkyl methacrylates having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety thereof, and from 0.3 to 3 mol % of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride repeating unit, and (d) from 5 to 40% by weight of a filler. The process comprises melt-mixing the components (a), (b) and (d) and then melt-mixing the resulting mixture with the component (c). The resin composition exhibits excellent finishing properties, such as adhesion, coating properties, and printability, as well as improved rigidity and thermal properties.

    • The present invention relates to;a method for surface treating a polypropylene resin composition molded article, which comprises irradiating a molded article with ultraviolet light having an irradiation wavelength of 300 nm or less, said molded article being obtained from a polypropylene resin composition which comprises:(A) 15-92% by weight of a crystalline propylene-ethylene block copolymer resin,(B) 5-40% by weight of an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber,(C) 1-15% by weight of a hydroxyl group-containing propylene oligomer, and(D) 2-30% by weight of an inorganic filler;a method for paint-coating a polypropylene resin composition molded article, which comprises irradiating a molded article with ultraviolet light having an irradiation wavelength of 300 nm or less and coating the irradiated surface with a paint, said molded article being obtained from a polypropylene resin composition which comprises said components (A), (B), (C) and (D) above-mentioned; anda paint-coated article obtained by said method for paint-coating the polypropylene resin composition molded article.According to the present invention, the methods for surface treating and paint-coating the polypropylene resin composition molded article, which gives excellent paint-coatability and adhesion property of said molded article, and the paint-coated article, which is useful and suited especially for automotive exterior parts such as a bumper and an instrument panel, obtained by said method for paint-coating may be provided.

    • A thermoplastic elastomer composition superior in moldability and appearance, little in anisotropy of mechanical properties, especially, tensile strength and retaining low temperature impact strength, is obtained by previously melt-kneading an intermediate composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a selectively hydrogenated block copolymer which has at least two mono-alkenyl or mono-alkenylidene aromatic hydrocarbon polymer blocks A having a number-average molecular weight of 25,000-35,000 and at least one partially or completely hydrogenated aliphatic conjugated diene hydrocarbon polymer block B having a number-average molecular weight of 100,000-150,000, (b) 50-150 parts by weight of an extender oil and (c) 0-50 parts by weight of polypropylene I, then adding, to the kneaded intermediate composition, (d) polypropylene II containing at least 35% by weight of a propylene-ethylene block copolymer having a melt flow rate of 10-30 g/10 min. and an ethylene content of 3-15% by weight in such amount that total amount of polypropylene I plus polypropylene II is 200-400 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of block copolymer (a) and then further melt kneading the mixture. Further addition of a filler to the composition can afford a thermoplastic elastomer composition of small linear expansion coefficient with retaining the above properties.
