    • The present invention is directed to a small-sized stroboscopic light emitting device that controls disorder in light distribution (orientation) characteristic caused by a shape of the reflector, and achieves a homogeneous light quantity distribution. The stroboscopic light emitting device includes an illuminator 1, a reflector 2 for reflecting light from the reflector, and a lens 3 for allowing the light reflected by the reflector 2 to pass through and illuminate outwardly, and the lens 3 contains a filler 4 in the base material. A refractive index and a mean particle size of the filler are between or equal to 1.3 to 2.8 and between or equal to 0.1 μm to 20 μm, respectively, and the filler is contained in the base material at the rate between or equal to 0.1 parts by weight to 3.0 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base material. Since the filler diffuses the passing light adequately, even though the reflector is provided with a bend, local disorder in light distribution (orientation) characteristic caused by the bend can be suppressed.

    • A toner supply container is detachably mountable to an image forming apparatus and includes a container body for containing toner; a shutter for closing and opening an opening, which is provided in the container body; a rotatable member; and a projection. The shutter includes a first gear portion for meshing engagement with a first gear member, which is provided in the image forming apparatus. The rotatable member, which is rotatable relative to the container body, produces a driving force for opening and closing the shutter. The rotatable member includes a second gear portion for meshing engagement with a second gear member, which is provided in the image forming apparatus. The first gear member and second gear member are rotatable together. The projection, which is provided on the rotatable member, receives a force for pre-rotating the rotatable member through a predetermined angle in a direction of opening the shutter, from the image forming apparatus in response to a mounting operation of the toner supply container to the image forming apparatus. The rotatable member is rotatable through a predetermined angle in a direction of closing the shutter from a position at which the second gear portion is in meshing engagement with the first gear member. The projection enables disengagement between the first gear portion and the second gear member so as to substantially prevent the second gear portion from rotating the second gear member in a dismounting operation of the toner supply container from the image forming apparatus.

The optical disc drive 1 may further include a judging circuit for judging whether the rotation number of spindle motor 11 measured by the rotation number counter 232 reaches a predetermined target rotation number when the rotation of the optical disc 2 is to be stopped by the spindle motor 11. In this case, the application of the brake is completed when the rotation number of the spindle motor 11 reaches the predetermined target rotation number.

    • The image forming apparatus includes a rotary belt member; a detector for detecting a position in a rotating direction of the belt member; a toner image forming device for forming a toner image at a predetermined position on the belt member based on a detection signal of the detector; and a recognition device for recognizing the type of belt member based on the detection signal. The apparatus is stopped or the information related to the belt member is notified based on the recognition result of the recognition device. Thus, by a simple configuration, failures caused by an unsuitable rotary belt member can be easily prevented.
