    • An optometer for subjectively examining refractive power of an examinee's eye, comprises: a phoropter which selectively disposes an optical element in front of the examinee's eye; a controller having a switch panel for transmitting a signal to the phoropter and a horizontally extending rotation axis; a display rotatable about the rotation axis of the controller, orientation of the display being changeable by its rotation between a side with the switch panel and a side without the switch panel; and a control part which controls a display screen of the display to appear in a constant orientation irrespective of whether the display is reversed upside down by its rotation.

    • Disclosed herein is an ophthalmic apparatus for obtaining a refractive corrected-degree based on a refractive power of each of eyes to be examined, the ophthalmic apparatus comprising a refractive power inspecting device for inspecting the refractive power of the each eye, a program storing device for storing therein a program for measuring completely-corrected degrees of the eyes, adjusting the completely-corrected degrees according to factors for adjusting degrees to be corrected and thereby predicting degrees to be prescribed, an input device for inputting data about the factors for adjusting the degrees to be corrected, a program conducting device for advancing the program stored in the program storing device, a control device for sequentially activating the ophthalmic apparatus in accordance with the program and processing the result of inspection by completely-corrected degree inspecting device and the data input by the input device thereby to predict prescribed degrees, and a display device for displaying the prescribed degrees predicted by the control device. Thus, an examiner having little experience in and unfamiliar to the optometry can easily obtain suitable prescribed values.

    • A subjective vision testing system is used for visual function tests for examinees. The subjective vision testing system is provided with an optometric apparatus which selectively sets optical elements in front of both eyes of an examinee, an optotype presenting apparatus for displaying optotypes to the examinee, and a controller. The optotype presenting apparatus, based on a command signal for implementation of a binocular balance test, displays optotypes used for binocular balance tests. The optometric apparatus, based on a command signal for implementation of a binocular balance test, sets a first prism in front of the examinee's right eye and a second prism in front of the examinee's left eye. The second prism has a base direction vertically opposite to the first prism and the same prism power as the first prism.

    • An optometric apparatus comprises: a pair of right and left lens chamber units, each unit including a test window and optical elements to be selectively disposed in the test window; a convergence unit which converges the right and left lens chamber units; an input unit with which a pupillary distance of an examinee is inputted; a calculation unit which determines a convergence angle of the right and left lens chamber units based on a distance for a near vision examination at which a near vision optotype is presented and the inputted pupillary distance, the convergence angle for the inputted pupillary distance longer than a predetermined reference distance being determined such that an optical axis of the optical element is substantially aligned with a visual axis of an examinee's eye, whereas the convergence angle for the inputted papillary distance shorter than the reference distance being determined such that the right and left lens chamber units are converged without coming into contact with each other; and a control unit which controls driving of the convergence unit based on the determined convergence angle.
