    • A method for accessing a hybrid network including a wide area network and a distributed network, a gateway apparatus, a wireless terminal and a gateway communication system are disclosed for reducing the power consumption of the wireless terminal which is an access gateway. The method comprises: sensing by a gateway apparatus a relay request slot on a downlink common control channel of the wide area network; transmitting by a wireless terminal a relay request signal requesting to relay a data packet to be transmitted, in the relay request slot on the downlink common control channel; and if the relay request signal from the wireless terminal is sensed in the relay request slot, establishing by the gateway apparatus a connection with the wireless terminal in a distributed network environment. As such, the gateway apparatus accesses the wireless distributed network only when the surrounding wireless terminals require data relay, without sensing signals on both networks simultaneously, in order to reduce the power consumption.

    • A method of interference suppression in a wireless cellular network includes notifying a first base station that there is a second User Equipment (UE) that currently suffers downlink interferences from the first base station, when an second UE in an active state suffers the downlink interferences from the first base station; and reallocating, by the first base station, spectrum resources for a first UE communicating with the first base station. A first base station, a second UE and a second base station for implementing the above method of interference suppression are also provided. When the second UE in the active state suffers the downlink interferences from an adjacent first base station, the first base station can adjust the spectrum resources occupied by the first UE through resource scheduling, so as to reduce the downlink interferences on the second UE in the active state, thus to reduce the influence on the communication between the second UE and the second base station.

    • This invention provides a coding method, user equipment and system based on measuring Quality of Experience (QoE) of a user. The method includes: measuring, at destination user equipment, a QoE value; comparing the measured QoE value with a QoE threshold; adjusting at least one of a source coding rate and a channel coding mode according to a result of the comparison; and coding according to the adjusted source coding rate and/or channel coding mode; or further performing wireless resource allocation according to the adjusted coding scheme. Such method, user equipment and system of this invention adjust the coding technique according to the QoE, thus making the wireless resource used reasonably.

    • Embodiments of this disclosure include a method and apparatus of dynamic spectrum allocation in coexisting heterogeneous wireless networks. A Mobile Station (MS) detects its own serving Access Point (AP) and a coexisting AP (cAP) of the serving AP, sends to the serving AP a service request message carrying a bandwidth demand and a cAP ID. The serving AP sends to a Dynamic Spectrum Allocation Module (DSAM) a spectrum request message carrying its own AP ID, the cAP ID and the spectrum demand. The DSAM allocates the spectrum dynamically using a dynamic spectrum allocation algorithm according to the spectrum demand, AP ID and cAP ID, and sends a spectrum allocation result to the serving AP, which allocates an appropriate bandwidth to the MS according to the spectrum allocation result. Thus, sharing spectrum dynamically between multiple coexisting wireless networks can be achieved, and spectrum utilization can be improved.

    • The present invention discloses a method of spectrum utilization in a wireless cellular environment with coverage of at least two wireless networks and a related apparatus. The method includes: determining a RSRP threshold; detecting, by a small-cell base station, RSRPs of at least one large-cell base station; and comparing the highest one of the detected RSRPs with the determined RSRP threshold, adopting a separate spectrum mode if the highest one of the detected RSRPs exceeds the determined RSRP threshold, and otherwise, adopting a shared spectrum mode. According to the method and apparatus of the present invention, a separate spectrum mode is adopted when the small-cell base station is relatively close to the large-cell base station to decrease interferences between the small-cell base station and large-cell base station and to increase spectrum usage efficiency in the wireless cellular environment with coverage of at least two wireless networks, however, a shared spectrum mode is adopted when the small-cell base station is relatively far from to the large-cell base station to realize sharing spectrum and increase spectrum usage efficiency in the wireless cellular environment with coverage of at least two wireless networks.

    • A method and an apparatus select an access point (AP) in a wireless LAN to associate or reassociate, based on considerations that take into account the quality-of-service (QoS) status of the stations (STAs) and the potential hidden terminal effect. The method utilizes advertised or requested information obtained from an AP which includes the QoS status in each basic service set (BSS) and estimates the potential hidden terminal (HT) effect based on local channel sensing by the STA. The method selects the AP in a manner that reduces the possibility of collision from equal and higher priority HTs, thus providing greater transmission throughput and improving performance.
