    • An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member, a developer carrying member facing the image carrying member in a horizontal direction and configured to carry a developer containing magnetic particles and to rotate in a circumferential direction thereof, a transport pole provided inside the developer carrying member and above a center of rotation of the developer carrying member and allowing the developer carrying member to transport the developer, and a developer regulating member facing the developer carrying member at a position between the transport pole and the image carrying member in a direction of rotation of the developer carrying member and configured to regulate a thickness of the developer on the developer carrying member. The developer accumulates at a position where an amount of bending in the developer carrying member in a vertical direction becomes larger than or equal to that in the horizontal direction.

    • In a apparatus for detecting toner shortage in a developing unit for use in an image recording system which forms a latent electrostatic image on a carrier by exposure based on an image signal and which develops the latent image to record the image, provided are a toner shortage sensor in a container for checking as to the presence or absence of a toner in the container at the location of the toner shortage sensor, a counter section for counting in a cumulative manner the number of image prints and the number of pixels produced by the image recording system when the toner shortage sensor detects a toner shortage, the counter section for successively subtracting the number of image prints and the number of pixels from the associated cumulative totals when the sensor detects the presence of toner in the container, and a control section for stopping at least the operation of the image recording system when the sumulative counting value of either the number of image prints or the number of pixels has reached a predetermined value.

    • An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a time detection unit, a humidity measurement unit and a controller. The image forming device includes a photoconductive body, a developing device and a transfer device. The time detection unit detects information concerning a stop time period of the developing device. The humidity measurement unit is provided in a casing in which the image forming device is provided and measures a humidity. The controller controls a developer supply member in the developing device based on the information concerning the stop time period detected by the time detection unit and information concerning the humidity measured by the humidity measurement unit, so as to rotate at a lower speed than a rotation speed at a normal time before the developing device starts a first developing operation after the developing device stopped.

    • An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a time detection unit, a humidity measurement unit and a controller.
